I've tried both Botox and Frownies, so hopefully this helps. If you have the money and aren't worried about side effects, of course Botox is effective & easy with no work on your part. Frownies works best if you use it for about 8 weeks solid, which obviously takes more effort and "work" on your part than a quick shot (and something to have to explain to boyfriends...). I like to do my skin routine a few hours before I put the Frownies on because you have to put them on a clean area with no lotions. Then I just wipe clean the area I'm putting the Frownie on. And if you have a day at home doing nothing before an evening out, it really does help "iron" out the area if you have one on for a few hours. And having them on while awake makes you aware of how often you move your face. Consciously training yourself to keep your face relaxed is a huge bonus! Read all the reviews on Amazon to get more opinions, there's a lot on there. It's a good way to avoid Botox. I recently had a small stroke after a Belotero filler injection and the neurologist told me if I needed more motivation to never do it again, he could give me a tour of all the blind women from Botox on the ward (most weren't first-timers either!). Scary!
Thanks Megan. Yeah, it was a nightmare for me and my whole family. The doctors over here are a bit vague so they haven't come to any solid conclusions on the cause, but Belotero is the main suspected source. My plastic surgeon friend in Texas thinks it's almost impossible for that to have caused it, but since I've never really been sick before, have never smoked, am quite fit and have been a vegetarian for 19 years, we don't know what else to blame. I won't be doing it again, that's for sure. I'll be going the natural and injection-free way in the future and have heard this method is quite good as a substitute -http://www.frownies.com.
I had Belotero (similar) in my chin and had a stroke the next day. I nearly died and spent so many weeks in the hospital being pricked and poked so much I never want to see a needle ever again! I know my reaction was rare, but I'll never do it again!
