LOVE IPL! However, I also use the Obaji system which includes a bleaching cream which takes FOREVER. The IPL really helped the process along.

I just had this done for the first time yesterday for dark spots on both cheeks. My face looks horrendous but I remain hopeful. My cheeks are very, very dark brown but not "crusty". I will definitely not be going out of the house in the next couple of days. I am the BIGGEST baby in the world but the procedure was not uncomfortable or painful at all; however, I slapped on a lot of the numbing cream 45 mins prior to the procedure. Will continue to post with my progress.
