Im 57 Mine cost a wopping $14,000 but this was billed to insurance. Out of pocket was $300.00. I wish young women would NOT under go this procedure. I was young and uninformed about the risk involved down the line. I had so much pain, capsular contraction, leakage and rupture. I couldn't lift my arms without pain. Couldn't do a simple chore like vacuming without first deciding which arm to use.
Consider your health as at your age are the implants old? Mine were 23 yrs old. Down time for me was 10 days and now a year post op, the best thing I ever did. Check your insurance coverage and find the best doctor you can. Best of luck!
Mine were under the muscle. The pocket that was originally made for the implant, will simply lay back down and heal. The muscle will be fine. Just follow post op instructions. My implants were a mess- leakage, rupture and caspules. My doctor said it takes up to one year to completely heal. I am almost a year post explant. This was the BEST decision to get them out of my body. My breasts look and feel normal and warm, like they should. All the pain I had associated with those horrid implants are gone. I'm 57 years old and I healed beautifully, like they were never there! I didn't opt for a lift- I didn't want additional scars. And the scar from removal (under the breast, original implant) is barely noticable. It cost me $5,000 to put them in and $14,000 to remove them. BUT my insurance covered the removal because of the complications I had. Please check with your insurance company as many will cover this explant procedure, even if you originally had them put in for cosmetic reasons. Good luck to you!
Im 57 and post op 6 mo. Healthy, happy, pain free at last. Everything you said is so true. Mine were always cold- 20 yrs of that! I couldn't excercise right. They were just never part of me and not just because of the pain I eventually had, I just wanted to feel the warmth of my own body again. And the pain ruined my quality of life- literally had to decide which arm to use when doing a simple chore like vacum the rug. Over the life span of the implants health issues will develop unless they are replaced, they don't last a life time. Mine ruptured & became deformed because of hardened capsule. Like you, I thought attractiveness included big breasts. And I also was never informed that I would need surgery again down the line. Even though my doctor puts them in, he never suggested putting them back in! Give that some thought, right? I am soo so happy with my natural, soft warm breasts. You sound like u r doing real well 4 wks in, about where I was 4 wks in. As time goes on you will absolutely be 1000% happy they are gone! I hope messages of post op patients encourage other women to stay on top of their health and implants if they choose to keep them. Ultimately, it comes down to, remove or replace. I hope more women read forums like this before putting implants in. It is a life altering surgery, not a life saving surgery. May I quote you, j? "Stay strong ladies, it will be ok in the end." Love kdm
I am 6 months post op removal. Had those damm things over 20yrs- im 57. It is the best thing I ever did. You r young, will bounce back and love your real body. Recovery wasn't hard at all and I had drains and doc removed some of the capsules. By removing them, you not only get your natural body back, but you will avoid the pain that I went through when capsule hardens, rupture, leak and become deformed in your body- then you must take them out. Good luck to u!
I had silicone implants put in 20 yrs ago. Just had them removed on the 29th. Like you- under the muscle and had lots of pain all the time- shoulder, back, chest; sweats, fatigue; I was feeling real lousy all the time. Now that they are out, I feel great!!! Pain is gone, energy back, no more sweats! My health improved immediately! I still am in awe that the removal of the implants removed all pain that my body was experiencing.
The surgery and my recovery has not been painful at all. I expected pain similar to what I had when I had the implants put in, but no-. 3 days post op and I feel wonderful!
Please see a surgeon and get an MRI. More than likely because the implants are old, your pain may be coming from the implants. An MRI will detect any problems.
My implants were small as well and my breasts look BETTER than they did with the implants! I have a natural look back, no sagging (guess because the implants were small) Please discuss options with a doctor and don't live in pain anymore! My prayers are with you!
