Hello. This is a common question women ask, what to do when the eyebrows turn grey?
First off, very few womens' eyebrows turn 100% gery, and they would be in their 80's! Most womens eyebrows do not turn all grey, they get a minimal salt and pepper look. Ask yourself, if my eyebrows were not done, what color pencil would I use.? 99% still use the same eyebrow pencil, they do not use grey.
Color selection- When you do permanent eyebrows, choose the color that you need now. Over the years the iron oxide color will fade and you will need to have them reapplied, so you can change the color somewhat at that time. Do not use black on eyebrows. If you need dark brows get a hershey broown or warm black brown.
Although this post is several years old it is a topic many women have questions about.
To minimize pain during a permanent eyeliner is simple. Do not have the liner applied with an electric or manual pen. This equipment uses large guage needles, similar to body art needles. Although it gives a dark color, it does cause pain. I have founded and run a USA higher education permanent cosmetic school. I teach this method. Seek out a practitoner who is experienced in a coil tattoo machine application, with smaller guage needles. If a medical grade numbing lotion is used, it will be effective and you will feel little or no pain, with no bleeding or scabbing.
Injecting lidocaine is contraindicated in permanent cosmetics, as the lidocaine liquid goes into the same intracelluar space where the color needs to be deposited, and the color is difficult to apply once the skin has been preinjected. I have done thousands of eyeliners, and very few feel any pain with a coil machine and proper technique. Look for someone in your state. Besh wishes.
Dear Deb,
You have several different aspects which need to be addressed. Both color and shape are involved.
Fortunately, the color is relatively washed out and this makes for a less time consuming correction. If you were having a correction done in my clinic, I would determine-
1. The shape you do want, which of the two eyebrows is the desired shape?
2. Adjust the other brow to bring it in line with the good brow.
How? Various techniques can be used from selecting a permanent cosmetic tech with the expertise to use a soften technique to gradually lighten the unwanted color, or you can choose to locate cosmetic laser specialist in your state who has proven results in lightening eyebrows with the laser. Such techniques do exist, but not many are good at it. Make sure they can show you pictures that show color removed and no scarring. I have found one such practice in the mid-atlantic area.. Once the unwanted color is minimized by your chosen method, both eyebrows can be redrawn symmetrically and recolored in a sand or blondish shade to give you the eyebrows you wanted. It takes time, but I have done many corrections over the years. Look for professionals with expereince in these techniques. It may require some travel on your part, and multiple treatments. Do not allow anyone to put more color in the brows, or try to "cover" them witha skin tone, it looks like someone has already done this. Best wishes.
