    Sonomagirl,
How did you pick your surgeon in bangkok? Who is he?

I also have those pouches next to my mouth. I'm 6 months out. Mine appeared 2 weeks after surgery on one side. It looked awful. It took a long time to get better. It was on the side of my face that was more traumatized . Now this side looks better than the other. I think it looks awful and I'm disappointed. I'm considering a filler. Hate to start this as I had the lower face lift and neck lift to avoid these expensive non lasting solutions. But it's really bothering me. I have these silver dollar size puffy , swollen places on my lower cheeks. Still hoping that when this goes away that the lines on the sides of my mouth will diminish. Wishful thinking?
    I'm 6 months out. I'm 63. I'm still

    Simply me,
Did you just have your lower face and neck done? I m curious as to where he cut you.
I had lower face and neck done. My scars are behind my ears, and in front of my ear at the upper part of ear. 1 1/2 -2 inch scar . Nothing down the lower front of my ears.
My surgery was march 1 . Scars behind ear are healed. When it was first done it was all lumpy back there. Didn't think it would ever be okay. Scars under my chin and and in fronted ear are healed nicely. Barely noticeable.
I still have lines I don't like next to my mouth. That's why I'm asking you where you were cut. I am still a little swollen on my lowere cheeks . Looks like a circle maybe the size of a silver dollar......only viable to me. Hoping when this is better that the lines next to my mouth will be less. Any thoughts from any of you?
I love reading all the posts..... Thank you all for sharing.

    Pbelli,
    Thanks for responding.
You said you were cut were I was ...only at the upper part of the ear on the face.
Did you ps tell you why he was only cutting there. Seems to me that most lower facelifts are cut all the way down in front of the ear. Now I wonder if he had cut at the lower part of my ear the lines around of my mouth would be less noticeable. There are times I think it looks awful around my mouth and other times it's not so bad.
Funny now that I have had this done I notice scars on women I never would have noticed before. All these scars I see are on the front of the ears. I never would have noticed this before and I'm sure no one else notices. My scars at the top side of my face by the ear are healed nicely...stil slightly red but really okay. The scar under my chin is healed also .
At first I didn't think that would ever be okay. It was all lumpy. Time is our friend. There is hope to those of you that are still healing.
Some times out of no where I think " I can't believe I actually did this " . Does this happen to any of you?
At the end of the day I'm so glad I did it. I definately look better but it is not dramatic.
Before I had this done there were times I looked on the mirror and I was horrified how awful I looked. I don't feel like that now.
I love being part of this group...thank you all so much for sharing your stories.
Now I check this site before I check Facebook!

I'm so happy to be part of this group now. I have read all your posts word for word. So excited to be able to be able to share my story with you . I feel I owe it to this group because I have learned so much from all of you and hopefully my experience could help someone else.
I'm 62 and 5 months since my surgery. I had mine done in panama city because we were going to vacation there for a month. I really always knew I wanted to have it done out of the country for privacy reasons . I live in a smal town in the Midwest and there is no way I could have maintained my privacy if I had it done around here. I feel like I'm going to ramble here... I checked out a local PS but when I found out there was no privacy entrance/exit I said no way. If I had run into one person in the waiting room my secret would be out. Don't understand why every PS wouldn't have a separate entrance.
I corresponded with my PS via email for months. He was trained in the US , spoke perfect English and had practiced in Miami for 10 years. I called the agencies in the US to make sure he was really licsenced here and I checked his board certification.
I had a lower face lift and my neck done. In his original email he suggested a full face, eyes and neck. I was just too chicken to have all that done at once. Now reading your posts I realize that what I had done is an easier surgery than the brow lift. Funny that I thought I had read everything there was to know about cosmetic surgery. After reading all your posts I was very wrong.
I did not go under a general , mine was done with twilight sleep. I was breathing on my own. Going under a general is really hard on your body. I heard once that it takes a full year to get it out of your system. It's no wonder that some of you have been so tired for so long.
After the surgery I did not have any bruising on my neck and my neck looks great. I had bruising on my face but after about 10 days I could conceal it with makeup.... Good enough for going out in panama city but it would not have been enough if I were at home and wanted to go out. This is strange but I felt my surgery was done by two different people as one side of my face was way more traumatized than the other. I knew this was not the case but it was just so different from one side to the other. The side that was most traumatized looks better than the other. After about 2 weeks I developed a puddling on that side of my mouth for about 2-3 inches. It looked fine when I woke up but within minutes it was back. He told me it would get better with time . It has taken this long for it to get better. I still have lines on both sides of my mouth. I wish it were tighter. But I had talked to him about not pulling my mouth too tight. This puddling caused me lots of anxiety.
I hot/ cold it for months. Along with massage. I did have about 8 ultra sound treatments starting the day after surgery. My ps strongly recommended it.. I felt like it took me a long time to heal . But after reading the posts I guess not. My advise to some one considering this surgery is to have it done in your 50's not 60's . I'll have to admit that I was shocked that I didn't heal faster. I'm active, only about 10 lbs overweight ,basically very healthy and just thought it would be easier. But I'm with all of you in that they really don't tell you the true picture of recovery. I spent all day looking In the mirror.
My husband and children don't think I look that much different. I guess that is a good thing. One close friend noticed after about 1/2 hour of seeing her. I think I look much better but now I think I could have more done. Is this why so many people have so many surgeries? I see every flaw now.
I too had tremendous pain in one part behind one ear but it got better within a week or so. My heart breaks for those of you that are still suffering with this pain. Nerve pain is the worst. Other than that I had no pain. I am still numb from the tops of my ears down around under my chin. For some reason this really does not bother me.
I would say one disadvantage to having this surgery out of the country is if you need a revision it would be very costly to have to return. But at the end of the day I'm still glad I did it far away from my home.
I'm curious about other peoples incisions. I was cut under my chin, behind my ears and about a 1 1/2 inch cut on the face side of my upper ear.
I'm so glad to be part of this group. It's fun to be able to share my thoughts openly.
Thank you for letting me ramble. Hope I included everything I wanted to share, if I think of more I will post again.
I will answer any questions you might have.
This was a huge decision and I'm glad it is over and I'm so glad I had it done.
I'm wishing all of you the best.
