Mike, I enjoyed your video, and I want you to know how happy I am for you. I had my procedure done in November. It is a little bit different than yours....I was given temporary teeth for six months and then I will get my permanent ones. It is time now for me to go back and get the perms. I also had a very good experience. I had 17 or 18 teeth pulled. I didn't have enough pain to even warrant taking as much as a Tylenol. I did have to take antibiotics, of course. I am your same age...66...and I can relate to so much what you said about being embarrassed by your teeth, and unable to smile. I had become almost a recluse. I didn't want anyone to see me. Like you, I researched this for a long time...about 3 years in my case. I also considered going to a foreign country, but.also like you, I was worried that something would go wrong and then what would I do. As it turned out, I haven't had any problems. It has been so easy that it is almost unbelievable. In fact, the husband of one of my friends said no way did he believe me that I could have so many teeth pulled and implants put in and feel little or no pain. I did have a little discomfort....and partly it was getting used to having the teeth in my mouth but before long, they felt 100% natural to me. I am happy I was able to get it done, and I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of having the procedure. Keep on smilin'!
I am so sorry to hear this. That was one of my biggest fears when I had this done....that I would "whistle" when I talked. I don't, and it hasn't messed up my ability to whistle when I want to, like when I call the dogs or horses. Do they say anything can be done to remedy this? It would drive me nuts for sure. My ears ring....not related to my implants....I've had it for several years...and it is maddening. I can't stand total silence any more. I have to keep a fan going in the house and usually the radio or tv on all the time.
That sounds reasonable....what your doctor told you. I will let you know what I hear from mine. I need to call and make an appointment Have you given much thought to how you want your permanent teeth to look? I actually haven't thought very much about mine. Dr. Brueggen did comment that my temps looked good on me. You know since they do it all in one day, you don't really have any say about how the temporary teeth look, but I thought they did a real good job. There was one woman on his webpage that I think her teeth just look amazing. These are the most realistic looking teeth I've ever seen. http://i40.tinypic.com/24bkuc4.jpg.
Lisa, I am going back to my dentist in a few days. He does nothing but implants. I will ask him if he refuses to do them on a smoker. I bet he doesn't. I am curious though, and I will ask him. I am sure he prefers that you not smoke, but whether he out and out refuses to do the procedure on a smoker, I don't know.
I paid $50,000 for my all on four procedure. I know that is a lot of money but my husband got a settlement and I used some of the money to have the implants done. I believe Clear Choice is less expensive and there are several others....so check around.
