Thank you very much for the feedback and for providing very astute observations. I also went to an ENT yesterday and after he examined my nose, it was confirmed that I have a deviated septum and a large turbonite on one side. My breathing has always been affected and I usually feel like my nose is always stuffed. He recommended I see a surgeon that is also an ENT to inquire about a septorhinoplasty to accomplish some of the corrections the two of you have mentioned. I would think in general insurance would cover the septoplasty but not the rhinoplasty portion as a result of the aesthetic and functional purposes of each procedure. I am pretty pleased to have learned that these types of procedures are available.
Is the recovery longer for septoplasty? My understanding is that some type of device is left in the nose for one to three weeks. Also, with regard to the osteotomy, I assume the breaking of bone or perforating inside the nose may lead to a little more bruising.
