Hi JLR123:) I also felt really bad after getting the lines around my mouth. It was like the 'bad' peel had advanced age rather rapidly. However, the good news is, my skin is in really good condition at the moment and actually think I am reaping the benefits of the peels-although it really was a scary moment when I thought it was permanent. I think when it comes to peels/IPL etc, the most important thing to remember is that the real benefits of doing them actually are up to 1 year later that you will see improvements. So, as time passes you will notice new improvements all the time. I;m pleased to say the lines around my mouth really are very minimal now and not as deep and pronounced as they were. Also I've changed the skincare to a new line- CSS-and my skin now looks very nourished and healthy, not to mention plump, which really helps with filling out those lines around the mouth. I hope it makes you feel better to know that a bit of time will really improve your lines. Please let me know how it all goes over time:)
Hi sorry I forgot about this question:)) I meant for many months after my bad peel I was using cleansers prescribed by the doctor for eczema, psoriasis etc even over the counter products and they all made my skin worse-so when I got the RF device(DEMI) combined with the skincare(NCN and Bellahut) my skin drastically improved and is now pretty much looking really good. Thank goodness because it was pretty awful for a long time caused by the peel.
Hi Paolaka:)
Just for the record, I am in not involved in any marketing with the brands I use, I am simply a consumer who finds that these products are working well to repair and improve the appearance of my skin.
I have previously used Skinceuticals, EmerginC and for approx 10 years, Environ. Quite frankly, I have taken it apon myself to become more informed about the ingredients in products that I use and what they actually do(unsurprisingly, organic and natural doesn't necessarily mean 'good').
A brilliant website is ncnskincare.com and will better inform you on what is suited for your skintype, what is in it and what it does. From the NCN range it will be up to you as to what you need as I am sure although perhaps we have done similar things to our skin, I'm quite sure our skins and needs will be quite different so therefore you need to choose your products through research. The site is very clear and easy to understand:) One tip I suggest is to start out small and not buy everything you 'think' will solve your problem as the next site I am going to suggest has products that I find you can use in place of high end products like 'skinceuticals B5' with another which is much cheaper:))) Yay! It is Bellahut and can be found on ebay and from there you can also find their website but everything is available through ebay. I am in NZ and the shipping was superfast:))
Personally I use the carrot cleanser+toner from NCN but I only use the toner once a week and every other day I use Bellahut's Hyaluronic Acid Matrixyl 3000 and Peptide Seaweed Spray straight after cleansing. Everyday I use the Hyaluronic Gel before using either Bellahut's Hemp/Hyaluronic Acid or Hyaluronic Moisturiser. This is for most of the week then a couple of days use NCN's Multi-Active Accelerator. In the evenings I use NCN epiderm repair capsules(oil capsules you can get many varieties from other brands, EmerginC has the loveliest but so expensive. NCN is good but Health Pro have 60capsules for approx 4-5USD so it is up to you what you are prepared to pay for)The oil capsules mostly contain vitamin E and is great for epidermal repair-especially after peels, treatments etc.
I NCN mostly because I know why and what I am buying as opposed to weighing my trust to the amount of money I am handing over.
Finally the RF(Radio Frequency) and LED(Light Emitting Diodes)machine I have been using is called DEMI which is brilliant(in my opinion:)))can be bought from a website called mydeess.com it is a Chinese company and yes I know but really, shipping is super and I have some friends in CHina who say that particular company's reputation is very good and I do believe based on my results is really worth it's money. RF and LED is excellent but just FYI is not as agressive as IPL and the results not as quick but it definitely a more gentle and less expensive option.
Sorry for the long winded answer but I just wish to give you as much info as I can based on my own experience. It's much wiser to get as much info from as many people as possible, especially with regard to treatments that have as many people having a negative experience as those having a positive one. I hope it helps you somehow!
Based on my own experience, keep well away from tretinoid or retinol creams as they will create new areas of dry patchy, scaly skin. When you first apply the cream it will 'appear' to be of an improvement in texture but within hours or next day skin will be greatly irritated. I also tried many creams intended for use by those suffering from eczema and psoriasis but actually they all did not improve the condition and seemed to irritate it. I found relief using organic jojoba oil for both cleansing and moisturising;but do not cleanse too much. Once every second maybe-I know it's gross but you really have to give your skin a break. At times I wondered if even water was aggravating my skin. Then after some months I would recommend a very good milk cleanser and hyaluronic serum, hyaluronic spray mist and also hyaluronic moisturizer. You may want to do the odd exfoliation with some crystals but beware you may get rid of the 'dry' patches but will have to put up with red patches of inflamed skin for a few days(it dies down and rids of the scalyness) One other excellent thing I recently discovered to put moisture back in the skin (which immediately improves the appearance of rough skin as it 'plumps' out) is to make a protein mask of an egg yolk, 2 tblspns of oatmeal porridge(natural) and add a little milk to your desired consistency and put it all over the face and neck, leave for 10-15 mins then rinse off with tepid water(tepid water for EVERYTHING with this kind of skin) It will really feel soft! I haven't really answered your question how to fix the texture but these things will coax your skin back to an optimal condition so you can decide wether or not you wish to try to correct the damage by another peel or laser or wether you just want to restore it to 'behaving' like normal skin as you run further risks with more procedures. (research as much as you can before you do anything else) Above all, time is better than anything else.
Hi Megan:) I think doing peels too close together is definitely a contributing factor to the 'bad' peel. I think over time, everytime I did a peel I did not leave enough time in between for the new skin to heal and restore to it's proper function as an 'organ'. I think I stripped it so much that by the time I went to do the 'bad' peel, it had already ceased to function as an organ and was unable to retain any moisture or even produce anything to protect itself, that's why it is was so dry and having bouts of 'eczema/rosacea'. It would be wiser to do the peels 3-6 months(closer to six months) apart. Also after the bad peel, I had prematurely peeled much of the skin because it was not good(I know-a big no no) and that would be the probable reason for the roughness. I don't know if time will heal that. I really would love to know how to get the smoothness back-advice anyone on how to achieve this? I do hope time will help. It still has a scarred appearance-you can see it in the first two photos. My skin is improving all the time, so that is pleasing.
