  • Posted to Having Smartlipo Done on May 24th. Nervous and Excited!!! - New Bern, NC on 9 Apr 2013

I do not know anyone else who has seen him. I was extremely disappinted with the results of the surgery I had (spent almost $25000.00 with him) and even more with his post op treatment. He promised he would fix my thigh that had a large indention in it but he wanted to wait one year for final results. He then would not even look me in the eye and said he would not attempt to make it better because it might get "worse"!!!! I have an apt June 11 with a Plastic Surgeon who sees alot of patients with bad results and she works at making the results more accetable. Will cost me no telling how much to fix the surgery Dr. Zannis did on me. If it was possible to sue Plastic Surgeons for malpractice I would sue him for destroying my arms with the laser lipo...even sent me home with "ace bandages" not the promised compression garments on my arms. Biggest mistake I ever made. Would never ever recommend anyone allow him to use smart laser lipo on legs or arms where they show alot... Buyer beware....keep looking......great Doctor in Durham/Chapel Hill area...name Dr. Ruff....perfect almost invisible stitches.....several friends went there... Another plastic surgeon in Greenville with great reputation...lots of friends go there Keep looking.

I had smartlipo on my arms to primarily tighten them...did not need them any smaller. The doctor was Board Certified according to his website. I also had thighs done...tighten and inner thigh lift. Thighs look like container eggs packed in..can no longer take yoga due to legs unable to open...hurts to open enough to do a PAP smear...he actually said if he had tightened the skin anymore I would not have been able to open my legs! Back to the arms...they looked so bad I asked him to repeat going in from elbow angle throwing good money after bad but desparate. He also promisted he would repair a fist size indention in my thigh where the laser took out too much.....on office visit he broke his promise.....said the skin graft might make it worse looking then a big indention....I told him I was willing to risk it and and knew there were treatments to smooth the skin out but nothing but a skin graft to put volumn back once it is removed. I Spent almost $15000 dollars and people have asked me how did I injure my arms. A Good lie is injections ...I am not a diabetic but anyone that is insensitive enough to ask that kind of question usually shuts up. I am a registered nurse, live at the beach, will probably never wear a bathing suit again...capri's at best....maybe some short sleeve shirts. Even being Board Certified does not mean they are good....just means they can pass competiencies.....have done certain number of that type of surgeries....had no lawsuits etc....If they are the only game in town they can get the number of exp. breast implants or other types of plastic surgery.....you need to ask to see photos of their own patients and ask if they have any you can call to speak to. Bottom line is buyer beware....go to someone who has been established for awhile....not just started....new technology might have bad outcomes in a few years.....Smartlipo has a place for some people but IT SHOULD NEVER BE DONE ON ARMS OR ON A PLACE THAT IS HIGHLY VISIBLE....IT LEAVES THE SAME DIMPES AND PITS THAT ANY LIPO DOES..... I have now spent another $3000 on radiofrequency on arms....Accdent feels good but does not last over a few days. Excilis actually will help smooth the damage that the smartlipo does....need at least 4 sessions....and then at least a fraxil laser treatment just to try and undo the horrible damage smartlipo does to arms:-) And you are dreaming if you think you will ever win a lawsuit on elective cosmetic surgery and doctors do not refund $$$$$ for this kind of surgery.....Disappointed in doctor as well as smartlipo

I had smartlipe on my arms to tighten them up not to reduce in size....since I was another part of my body done. Sent home with ace bandages on my arms for compression garment...not only impossible to rewrap it left lines on my arms. Now one year later lumps, pits and the scar which is aprox one inch long are all visible on the backs of my arms. My arms look like lumps of mashed potatoes. Someone actually asked me if I was in a accident. Now I have paid $1200 for Accent XL treatments and $1500 for Exillis treatments (going for number 3 this week and actually think I see improvement finally) and Fraxel resurfacing. I have spent as much trying to undo the damage the smartlipo did and the smartlipo cost and of course it still looks much worse then it started out looking. If I had large arms I think I would go for the old type of arm surgery with a good plastic surgeon who can leave an incision that is barely visible on my underarm from armpit to elbow knowing with time the scar could become almost invisible rather then risk the lumpy, pitting horrible results you might end up with the so called "smartlipo" on a part of your body that is always visible you already wear long sleeves all the time. SMARTLIPO is last resort for arms.....I am so ashamed of my arms since smartlipo....beachgirl that never wears a bathingsuit or even a sundress anymore :-( I hope the last 2 exllis treatments smooth me down to semi normal...will keep you posted.

I had smartlipo on my arms. They really were just a little out of shape but sometimes we are too critical of ourselves and the smartlipo was really for the thighs so I thought what the heck. Needless to say the lipo cannula left pitting like scars on the back of my arms that made the old out of shape arms look wonderful in comparison. The cellulite that appeared from "stirring up the fat" so to speak now has left the front as well as back of my arms in such ugly shape that I have tried been going for accent treatments and tomorrow I go for a round of Exillis. If Exillis does not work on my once normal arms I guess it will be long sleeves for life :-( And no more sundresses....Unless you are truly obese I would never recommend Smartlip for upper arms....I will keep you posted on Exillis results.
