Getting your cast of doesn't hurt. Your surgeon palpating your nose after your cast is off hurts, also if he applies tape on it afterwards - that hurts also. But it's not horrible pain, just a some discomfort, no need to be scared. This is what happens when cast comes off: your doctor will take a cotton swab and dip it in some cream to make it greasy and then gently use it to detach the cast from your face. He will then clean the skin on your nose with alcohol or other antibacterial substance. He will then palpate your nose and (if needed) he will apply tape (which compresses your nose to speed up the de-swelling process). Your nose will be sensitive for some time (I remember I felt it on my face for about a month) but it's part of the process. Good luck and I hope you'll be satisfied with your results. Just remember, it takes a long time to heal and to see the final results, so be patient and relax.

What Grimaud says is very true. The type of skin is crucial to what shape your nose can have. Also age is important (not really relevant here since you are young) - because older skin is less elastic. I had my surgery in september 2012 and my tip is still swollen. Maybe you should wait the full year and then decide whether you're happy or unhappy with your results.

Oh yes, it really subsided. My scar tissue surrounded all the bony area of my nose, it wasn't localized like yours, mine was everywhere. I could feel the indentations under my skin. In time, they got smaller and smaller (but the regression was not symmetric). The changes from one month to another can be quite notable. I'm at 4.5 months now and my not is not even close to healed. Just be patient and follow your doctor's recommendations. And please, stop wearing glasses. They alter the shape of your nose bridge in this stage.

In my opinion, you shouldn't even put on glasses at 1 month post op. I only started wearing 3D glasses at the movies at 3 months post op. The bone in the upper area changes in the first few months (I had quite a lot of scar tissue in that area which i could feel under my skin for quite a lot of time). But stop wearing glasses, please :)

    Hi Tim :)

I really think you're stressing yourself without reason. It's very clear that your nose is still really swollen (i can even see the puffiness in the photos). There is no way your nose got permanently bigger through surgery because i'm quite sure your doctor didn't put something extra in there, it's just the swelling.
There are cases when surgeons must add extra cartilage to support the structure, and they often take it from the earlobe, but it's not your case.
So stay calm, be patient, talk to your doctor about local corticosteroid injections to reduce the swelling faster and don't strain your nose. No matter how much you disapprove of it, let it heal in the best conditions.

I'm sure the swelling will go down soon and you'll be really happy (I really like the way your nostrils look from the side now) .. despite the swelling, the shape really looks better.
