HI! Just wanted to let you know that I used the same dr. as you. Overall I was very pleased with him and also the results of my BR. I had my reduction in June 2012, so coming up on almost 9 months. I was 41 when I had mine, and about the same breast size. I am now a B-C cup and couldn't be happier. The pain and numbness is totally gone!!!! I hope insurance comes through for you. My insurance covered mine and I wieghed more and am currently in the process of losing. Your current weight is where I am trying to get: so I have about 25 more lbs to go. Any type of documentation of previous problems will help with insurance. Good Luck!
I also have Aetna. I was approved the first time. I was 185, 5'5'' and somewhat muscular. My chest was 34 G/F also. My surgeon told insurance he would remove 550-800g. They approved the procedure within a week! I had all of the back and neck problems, and also my hands going numb. After the surgery Aetna drug their feet in paying the surgeons bill because he ONLY took 500 and 550 from each breast. They finally paid it after they had one of their drs review the case and say that yes the amount taken was enough to correct the problems I was having before the br!! That was alot of stress after, but it is still the best thing I have ever done for myself. So, hang in there and don't stress too much about Aetna. I think they use the higher numbers to try to keep people who want this done for cosmetic reasons from being covered.
HI! I am about 4 months post-op (didn't realize that till just now!). This was the best thing I have ever done for myself. You will feel like a totally different person, I know I do. I am stilll getting used to the fact that I don't need to buy baggy clothes to cover my boobs anymore : ) As someone posted "granny clothes" were the only things that fit and covered me. I have had several people comment that I looked younger and have I lost alot of weight? NO, just a lot of volume on top (no I didn't say that), but this does make it easier to exercise and I will be losing more weight as I am exercising again!
Other people didn't think I needed to have this done, but my husband and teenage girls can tell a difference in my attitude, confidence and appearance and know that this was the best thing I could do for myself. My insurance totally paid for the opperation! My only regret is: Why didn't I do this years ago? I'm 41 now and I feel younger than I did 10 years ago. Hope my commentary helps ease some of your anxiety and fears. Good luck.
I had my reduction done on June 5, 2012. Just a month beyond day of surgery. My dr. said I was a 36DD, but those bras were too small. I was measured at a 36DDD/DDDD. I think I was on the larger side. I am now a small 36C : ) So happy. I was that size before my 2 girls. I also got larger after my hysterectomy and removal of both overies due to severe endometiosis. I have a very physical job working for UPS which I think also contributed to my problems. Even though I work part-time there I am so grateful for the great insurance which paid for almost all of the surgery! It took a little longer for them to pay the PS because he didn't take the 550-800cc that they approved. He did remove 500 and 515cc from my breasts!!!! I feel so much lighter and I'm excited about buying clothes that fit my body and not my boobs. I am also in the process of loosing more weight. Before I got approval I weighed 195lbs, now I am down to 175 lbs! I am trying to lose another 15 lbs to be around a good weight for my 5'5" muscular frame. The muscle comes from lifting boxes everyday. I also am working on getting my associates degree to be a paralegal. This fall I am going to do my externship and graduate in December! I wanted to have the BR before then so that potential employers would see me and not my boobs. Already I feel more confident and am willing to wear clothes which are stylish and current.
A few more facts about my is that I am 41yrs old, and have two teenage daughters. I live on a farm with my husband and girls, so we are very active in our lives at home also.
Hi Biddy. I just had my reduction of June 5. There has not been a moment when I have regretted having it done, I only wish I had done it sooner. Just like Iowa, I was able to buy a swimming suit off the rack for the first time since high school and not have to worry about falling out. In fact I even made that comment to my daughter today while we washed the car and played in the water, since it is in the high 90's today. I have also been able to buy clothes that fit my body and not my boobs : ) Also for the first time ever I have worn a sports bra that I didn't spill out of and I don't have the great big uni-boob.
I know some of my in-laws disapproved of me having it done, but they didn't have to live with the constant pain. My arms and hands would go numb. I had over 500 g removed from each breast taking me from a 36DDDD to a 34/36C (Wow, what a great thought). My insurance completly paid for my reduction after a little bit of hassle over them delaying because my surgeon took a little bit less than was approved. My surgeon was on a list of providers for my insurance, but I did do lots of research and also got reccomendations from my other drs.
I would gladly go through this again and have ugly scars, because I feel so much better. My scars are healing nicely and are fading already, and it has only been a month since it was done. I hope this helps you some. I would like to encourage you to proceed with the surgery if you feel it will be beneficial to you.
