I had a TT and muscle repair also. The first time I went to get out of bed, I went to swing my legs off the bed and almost passed out. I wasn't expecting the pain. BUT!!! It wasn't something I couldn't handle. Once I realized that I couldn't just get up, it got better. I remember my husband and the nurse helping me up and me putting my feet on the floor was very painful. I had to lay back down and have my husband pick up feet up to get the weight off of them. But please don't let this discourage you. I wish I had someone to tell me what to expect. Once I got my feet on the floor the nurse and my husband had to help me stand. I took baby steps and when I mean baby,,,, I mean BABY steps to get to the bathroom. The nurse stood in front of me and literally sat me on the toilet. Then did the same thing when I got up. I stayed in the hospital over night and am so thankful I did. The nurse was so helpful. She told me I was doing better then most patients. Another suggestion, when you go to go home. Have a car as low to the ground as possible. DO NOT bring a SUV! When you sit down, someone will have to lift your legs and sit them in the vehicle. Once you get home, You will have to have someone help you sit down and stand up for about 3 days. When I mean help, I mean grab you under your arms and lift you and do the same to sit you down while you are bent over. Amazing though, on the 4th day I was able to do it all on my own, slow very slow but on my own! Also, don't be afraid of being put to sleep, these drs know what they are doing. They have to tell you all the complications that could happen. But it's amazing how well we all do. If you have any specific questions, please let me know. I will try my best to answer them.
Kathy, I am done with my PS, The one spot healed and hopefully I won't have to see him again. I will deal with whatever this is. It has gotten better though. Thanks, Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a safe New Year!
I don't think it's ever going to stop! I have a question. I am 6 months PO as of 12-19, and I have started having pains in my stomach. It's like where he did muscle repair. It literally feels like I can feel where he sewed my muscle together on both sides. Has anyone else had this problem or having this problem now? I thought maybe it was just getting the feeling back. But I don't know! It has been this way for about 5 days now. I can move a certain way and pain shoots through or I can cough or sneeze and it's just like the pain right after my surgery. Someone please let me know if you have done this or not!!
I am not exercising. I need to start back walking. The weather here in south Alabama has been great, just can't get motivated. I am not gaining or losing weight right now. Everyone keeps telling me I don't need to lose any more, but I want to at least 20 pounds. Maybe after the holidays I will start back. Hope you have a wonder holiday!
I agree with the "quite a recovery". I am glad to hear you are doing well. I still have a lot of numbness. I am hoping this is normal. But since yours is almost gone, not so sure. I like the way clothes fit on me also. Strange to hear people say I look skinny. I keep telling them I'm not, just smaller than I was.
