Hello, Turnerkitty32. Wow, that is the scariest I have read yet. Have the doctors ruled out a stroke or TIA? If the docs don't think it is nerve damage from the surgery that would be the next thing I ruled out and QUICK!! Could be a very dangerous situation. Sending you prayers for a good outcome. ML
Gayle,
You definitely did not get a great face lift and I too would be upset. But… I agree with Harder&faster that you are more aware than others. I do not want to minimize how you must feel. To put the time, money and energy into this type procedure just have poor results is beyond discouraging. My nose had to have revision surgery because the first doc did not do a good job at all and the results made me so self-conscious. It took me 4-years to decide on revision surgery. So I hear your pain, but… hang in there. Go back to one of the other PS, find out what you have to do to prepare for corrective surgery or how long you have to wait. Then see if fillers etc…will help you in the short term. Also, I would report the doctor to the applicable board (s). Hopefully your postings will keep others from using this doctor. My heart goes out to you, ML
Hello ladies,
WOW, it is sad that there are as many women as there are, that have post op concerns and don’t feel they have their PS support or guidance. I agree with Sophie555, drink lots of water and the lymphatic massage really works. You may want to see a professional first as doing the lymphatic massage incorrectly can cause swelling.
Before my surgery I did a lot of research, so I expected the numbness and understand that the nerves in the face/neck/nose are healing. As they heal there will be tingling, a periodic stabbing sensation, tightening, and reoccurring swelling. (This swelling can depend on what you ate or how you slept and can cause an uneven look). Some of the deep bruising like on the side of the face will take months to go away. Remember, they lifted all the underlying tissue and pulled it up and anchored in its new place. This is very traumatic and takes time.
These cosmetic procedures are very invasive. The more invasive, the more time. But.. 6-months to a year is not out of line. I am sorry you do not have a PS that has been able to take you step by step through this journey, and that is what it is. Part of the procedure is the follow up and the hand holding/reassuring the patient that all is well and going normally or address concerns as they arise. Perhaps it is because my PS, Dr. Michael Menachof and his staff have been and continue to be so amazing and follow my post op progress so closely that I never have concerns.
Hopefully, you can go back to your PS office and let them know you would like more guidance and follow up on your procedure. If not, maybe you can pose your questions and concerns to the doctors on Realself. They are very good at giving guidance. We are all here for you too, my best to you, take care

Thank you very much! It is very exciting to have a new fresher look. I can't express how happy I am. Hopefully you all realize what a valuable website this is and it was extremely helpful in my decision making process. I faithfully read all of your feed-back and blogs which gave me more questions to ask my doctor and things to watch for. So a Big Thank You to the RealSelf bloggers you are part of a great service as are the doctors that give their professional guidance. And of course, a Huge thank you to Dr. Menachof and his staff.
