I am a 30 year old white male with dark hair. I mean I had a 5:00 shadow at noon. My face was like the dude, John Hamm in Mad Men, I went to **tatoooff in encino. This was like 10 years ago and after three very embaracing treatments, my hair was gone for 6 months. But it was extremely patchy b/c I am white as can be and a dark beard. So then like 6 mos ago. I decided to do it again after 10 years. I tried the High Intensity Pulse Light and it was painless, but did not work. I mean a little bit of hair left but not much. So I did my homework on Lasers and found that the light sheer diode duel thing was the best. So I went to **tatoff again and they had it... after 4 treatments my hair was gone, but then after 4 mos. My hair in my moustach area grew back. So I go to **Tatoff and they doubled their prices from $120/treatment to $220/treatment. I was like forget that so I searched places that had that laser.... sure enough I went to the place in Glendale, off Glendale Ave. It was a spa and nice, cool people, and thourough, I mean I thought the other place left me patchy on purpose to keep me coming back.... but in Glendale it was only $100/treatment for my entire face/beard area. The only downside is that they do not believe in the numbing cream, so it hurt like a ****ch. Anyway, they said that the numbing cream clogs the pores and renders the laser less effective... totally made sense as I am in Medical School... So I went back 6 wks. later just to get all the small tiny spots of like 1 or 3 hairs, and remember I had a thick thick shadow beard, now it is as soft as, well soft, and I look 5 years younger! The trick is go to your dentist and tell him what u r doing and he can numb your entire face w/ novacaine thru your gums and do a nerve block. You wont feel anything at all for hours! One thing I learned after all these treatments is that it pays to come home, apply a ton of hydrocortisone cream and ice your face for an hour on then off for an hour for 12 hours... for two days. It brings the swelling down like 100% better then if you did nothing. As you will notice, after the treatment, you put ice packs on your face, and keep them in place w/ an ace bandage, you will look crazy but after that first hour your face melts the ice pack and is still hot to the touch when you take off the ice. You have to get it cool and fast or you will swell and get really red. Also stay out of the sun for a week... So with this laser the hairs take longer to exfoliate. (I know my spelling sux, but I am in a hurry)!!!! like 2-4 weeks for a man's beard. and they won't shave off for some reason.... go to a esthaticion and she will wax/squeeze/pluck them out so u dont look like a half shaven weirdo. but that was my experience and Glendale at $100/treatment is the place to go!!! any ?'s email me... mckegan@sbcglobal.net! I have b4 and after picks! also razers are like $20 for 4 that lasted me 3 weeks.... now I shave once a week...so it pays for itself every month! Remember it is not permanent, at least for me, but if I go every 6 mos. it takes care of it!
Good Luck!
