Andrea, I've been totally pain free at least six months if that helps. Take care!

Andrea, the first few weeks can be really tough. If you just accept it as part of the long process, it will help. I live in a very rural area and didn't have benefit of massages or other help, and I really struggled with a balance of pain, meds, nausea and swelling. I'm ten months out and very glad I did it. I have an overgrowth disorder that causes my fat to keep growing on one side of my body, so I have to do this every two years or so. Each time is worse because of the scar tissue. Yet, it is what I need to do to stay in balance and not throw off my back too much. I have some continued numbness in a few areas that have had multiple surgeries. For most people, that numbness will fade and become a thing of the past. Keep drinking lots of water, wearing your compression garment, moving slowly, eating healthy and pampering yourself with sleep and good care. Take care.

Keep moving, it helps even when you don't want to. Nothing strenuous and first, but to keep everything going. Sleep, move, water, take this time to pamper yourself. I remember friends offering to visit and turning them down because I just wanted to crawl in a hole for a while. Take care.

Day by day, you'll get there. Thinking of you.

I was miserable for a while. After about three weeks, I started taking part in life again, wearing a big T-shirt and Zoot compression below the knee pants as they worked better than my garment. After a month I was feeling pretty hopeful. I could see lots of results along the way, but the swelling, pain and numbness were mixed in. I'm about eight months out now and life has been normal a long time, but I still have a little bit of numbness in a few places. I live in a very rural area and couldn't get any kind of lymphatic massage. I think that would have helped me early on, but if anyone touched me in the first two weeks, I would have bitten their heads off. I needed to have some fluid drained that was pooching above my knees and that was a big relief when I had it done. It took the circumference above my knees down about an inch. Most of my work was buttocks and thighs and other fat between my knees and waist. Take care, it does get better. I don't regret my decisions.
