So do you ever wonder why there are always so many births and weddings so close to a funeral?? It's Gods way of giving people hope and distraction.. The deaths in your family are devastating but you think for a second that your mommy and sister aren't going crazy with grief? Your surgery is impending and it's HUGE (amongst other things about you LOL) and most importantly it is important for your health. It's just God lending a hand to their grieving process to give them something else to focus attention on. We are all care-giving and nurturing souls, us women........let them care for you and feel joyful that you can give them some distraction and for gosh sake, quit feeling guilty about it!! No one is blaming you for anything and the timing isn't 'bad', the timing is what it is!! My 84 year old mom who barely walks was here by my side for 8 straight days after my BR!! She can barely make it up and down the stairs here but she had some purpose so she was here and so loving and of course being "mom" she knew precisely what I needed to make me feel better. I needed her so bad to be here and she needed to do it for me. The first week is the easiest........Percocet is a dream; you will just sleep and drool and lose weight and sleep some more. Enjoy it, cuz when the itching starts, you WILL be praying for more Percocet! (Just teasing it isn't that bad) So...........Go girl! SO excited for you. OMG you have no idea how great it is on the other side!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, my sincere condolences on you and your families loss. WOW, that is just so much to digest, I can't even fathom and I don't even know you but my heart hurts for you. So much guilt I imagine, and especially if you were thinking about yourself for a second there?! Sheesh.........Listen!! You've been waiting a lifetime for this. Huge congratulations are in order that you got approval! Don't have a second thought about denying yourself. THIS WILL BE the best thing you have ever done for yourself. They have everything you will need for pain, anxiety and discomfort. And what the doctors dont' have, WE do!! We are a world and wealth of information and guidance you will never get from a doctors office but most importantly we are there in spirit and support. I personally never would have gotten through my million questions and concerns without these fabulous ladies on here! While it will be critical for you to have someone with you during the first few days of your recovery to help (dont even think about doing it on your own), you will be o.k. and you will get through it. No one is gonna lie and tell you that there isn't discomfort but the time FLIES and now I look up and tomorrow is 90 days for me! I can't believe it! I'm just so used to my fabulously perky and wonderfully light and airy boobs now, I can hardly remember how they used to be, and I can't even think about the discomfort anymore. It's still going on even after 3 months. Sharp jabs in and under the boob, sting or zing in the nipple area or whatever, but I know for a fact it is my nerve endings growing back so every time I get a little zip/zap I know it's all GOOD! Seriously YOU...........do this thing. You will NEVER EVER EVER look back. I think when you see all of our posts, you might come upon the extraordinarily rare post where someone sais they aren't happy. If we do this for the right reasons, then we are all happy and YOU will be one of us soon! Relax. Breathe. Read all about your fellow BR patients, ask questions and get excited for the biggest and coolest change in your life!! My most exciting moments have been so personal and private but you WILL understand when you buy a bra "off the rack" yup, that's what I said, and they all fit and everything looks and feels wonderful. This is a cake walk compared to that heavy load you are carrying. God bless to you and take care of your family.........then take care of YOU! Hugs

I can concur with that. I'm 45 days out and I still cannot feel the skin around the breast on my right boob. It is the strangest sensation and I'm praying that all feeling comes back. My nipples (both) are coming around and beginning to perform as usual although they mostly feel like they are on fire when they are erect............but I've heard that massage can help stimulate the nerve endings for growth, so I masaage before I go to bed with the Palmers Oil, just round, circular, and I'm massaging the scars too. Good luck Archime with the healing. Every day something changes. About 4 weeks + was when I started having some really positive changes and felt like I turned a big corner on discomfort about week 6. Hang in.

Notably so I would be a bit scared too, but I would think your heart doctor would be able to give you the best advice, right? My brother has had two heart valve surgeries but he has gone under anesthesia for many other procedures. I would do as much research as possible. I'm not in your situation and my only risk factor was that I was afraid I would react to the morphine and vomit..........didn't happen. I think you can see that 99% of us on here had our own set of questions about how this would affect us overall and 99% of us are pretty darn happy. Your heart though, that is nothing to take lightly so you have to make certain you are in the best health for the procedure that you can be and then take a bit of a leap of faith. Good luck to you.
