My surgery was June 12. Two weeks later my PS said I could start walking. At 3 weeks she said I could start jogging, as long as I wore my compression bra and a sports bra, and as long as I didn't go too far from home because energy levels can drop suddenly. And I just got back from my 6 week appointment, and she lifted all restrictions. I can start working on my upper body and can start swimming just as soon as my little open spot closes up. I've been having suture spitting -- my body just doesn't like those dissolveable sutures. But other than that, I'd say I'm 95% back to normal.
hey, Iowa! it's 6 weeks tomorrow, and I'm still just as thrilled as I was on day 1. things are going really well. I'm about 95% back to normal. I had 3 small spots that weren't healing as quickly as I'd liked, but 2 out of the 3 are good to go now, and the 3rd is on its way. my breasts are still swollen and a little tight and lumpy, but who cares! I went shopping yesterday and actually fit into a size small shirt. I could've cried with joy :)
Barb, removing the tape got to me too! Thought I was going to pass out, and now my incisions are way more sore after the pulling. I'm jealous that your doc lets you take Advil. Mine will allow Tylenol only for first 2 weeks, which is a shame because it does absolutely nothing for me. And oh my goodness -- I took stool softeners every day starting 3 days before my surgery, and it still just about killed me when I finally went. I can't imagine what it would've been like had I not taken them.
It's been 6 days since my surgery, and I'm feeling good. More energy every day. Just got back from my post-op, and I'm sore from my PS removing the steri tape and putting on the paper tape, but still good. No pain meds since day 3. I'm quite bruised and swollen, so doc told me to start massaging them 4x/day and that will help. Overall, this has been so much easier than I expected. Now if I can just start sleeping better at night and can stop walking around like a hunchback, I'll say this has totally been worth it :)
Day 3 post-op and feeling surprisingly well. No real pain to speak of, but I am extremely stiff and sore, especially when I'm trying to stand. I look like an old woman hunched over and grabbing her chest lol. And I can definitely tell a difference between the morning and evening as far as my energy level goes. But overall doing really well. Was going to try to go without the percoset today, but I figured I might as well stay pain-free and sleepy for as long as I can while my husband is around to take care of me. Tonight I'm going to take my first shower. A little bit nervous, but excited to get my first peek at the girls. So far this experience has been much easier than I anticipated. So excited for you pre-op ladies to move over to this side!
