Hi Aprilmay, I had strange bags of fat under my eyes after my fat transfer and my doctor didn't tell me that was normal or a possibility after fat transfer. I only found that out after my first fat injection. He did tell me "most people have 2 injections" but I didn't realize that was because the results of the first injection could be uneven. Since that time I have gotten a follow up fat injection that has smoothed the area and improved the look. I am also going to do a third injection to finish filling in the hollows. In terms of the puffiness you may be seeing now, that will still go down. It really does take several weeks for the fat to take its permanent shape. I really think you will see a lot of improvement with time. Until then you can try makeup to cover the area or wear glasses. Once you have given it some time and if you think you still do not like the results, you may be able to reverse the effects with a blepharoplasty.
Hi Lucette,
Thanks so much for responding! I talked to my PS and he said the same things that I read on here which is that he needed to fill in the areas under the bags to smooth everything out. He did that and I look better--not perfect yet because I still have a partial "bag" under one eye and the other eye has a small area that needs to be smoothed, but at least I'm starting to see that things can be improved in little steps. I just really wish my PS would have informed me before I agreed to the first procedure that it could take several procedures to look normal. I do hope it will turn out ok, but I would not have done it if I had known how many times it would take to get it looking ok. Your answers helped a lot!!
Sameboat
Hi Lucinda,
I'm in the exact same boat! I got fat transfer in the eye area two weeks ago today and it looks like I have two big bags under my eyes. My doctor's office told me this is very normal. However, they did not tell me about this possible (or maybe even expected) side effect before the surgery. Now that I'm here I'm wondering if and when these under eye bags will resolve. Lucinda, has your puffiness gone away now that you have had more time to heal? I do trust that my bags will go away, but I must admit I am still worried that I may have them forever. I also have some small (and rather soft) lumps under one eye. They don't feel like little rocks because they are rather pliable, but I can feel them under one eye and not the other. Does anyone know if this is normal?
Thanks in advance!
