I tried Botox for the first time almost 4 weeks ago. Immediately after, my brows dropped and my eyelids became droopy. I perform on weekends as a dancer, and was devestated at the way I looked...... and how you feel about yourself always impacts your dancing. And all this at a time when I have been asked to apprentice for a dance company, which is a huge opportunity. But I could hardly dance - Every time I looked in the mirror I had a mild heart attack. Couple days later, the anxiety attacks, nausea and complete lack of focus and concentration hit...... I couldn't keep a single thought in my head, never mind dance. So performing even the most basic tasks at home became challenging.

I started to desperately read all the posts on the internet that I could, searching for a way to make it fade faster. My doctor said there was nothing I could do but wait. But I refused to just sit around and not put up a fight. Plus there's a whole bunch of people on the internet complaining that their Botox faded too quickly! Like in less than 2 months, so I thought - THAT's what I want.

So after reading up on it as much as I possibly could, I decided to go on a detox plan to not only help my body get rid of the toxins, but also to help with cell renewal (because Botox kills something or another in the nerve endings, which only come back once new cells are formed).

I'm still fairly frozen and my facial expression looks really "dumb", but I have noticed more and more mobility each day. Plus I have had the added benefit of an elevated mood, because all the efforts I am making to cleanse my body have given me extra energy and clear skin! So emotionally, my self-constructed treatment has helped me a lot. And that alone is worth it, even if the Botox isn’t fading faster. But I do think it is…..

So here is what I am doing. I hope it helps all of you out there who are going through the same thing. And its good for your body anyway, so there’s no harm in trying. You can look up each item on your own to read up on the beneficial properties of each:

Every morning 20 min before breakfast, I take 2 heaping tablespoons of Cod Liver Oil (lemon flavoured)
During breakfast, I take a neurological supplement for cognitive function
    After breakfast, I take a Vit B12 and a Vit D capsule
Then 20 min before lunch, I take a liver supplement with milk thistle and Alpha Lipoic Acid)
During lunch, I take another neurological supplement for cognitive function
After lunch, I take 2 capsules of Acai Berry
Then 20 min before dinner, I take a liver supplement with milk thistle and Alpha Lipoic Acid)
After dinner, I take 2 capsules of Acai Berry
Before bed, 1 capsule of Acidophilus

Plus I have started juicing fresh fruits and vegatables. Fruits for breakfast and the veggie drink in the afternoon (instead of lunch or as an afternoon snack). The veggies are really important – Kale, Spinach, Celery, Cucumber, Carrots, and Mint & Ginger for sweetness.

Personally, I think that the side effects arise because our bodies are trying to fight off this foreign substance. So any assistance you can give to your immune system and/or your liver is going to help. Plus feeling good takes my mind off it. Otherwise, I would be crying and staring at myself in the mirror every night like I did in week 1. Good luck to all.
