Elizabeth, you are right to take a break because it sounds like you have been overdoing it. Believe me, I have been there. I ended up with a huge jaw and terrible face tension and severe headaches. I recognised that it was the muscle that I was targeting that was the wrong one. One way to avoid targeting the jaw muscle (masseter) is to keep your mouth open by about an inch or so and try to keep the jaw relaxed in this position whilst you are working the other muscles.
If you find that you are clenching your teeth at night and are experiencing headaches one solution is to get a small amount of botox injected into your masseter muscle. Search "bruxism" on the internet. Make sure you go to someone who is experienced in these types of jaw muscle injections. You will only need about 10 units on each side. Dont let the doctor convince you into getting more. On the doctor's advice, I allowed him to inject 50 units each side and my face practically disappeared, I did not look like myself at all. Give it about a month and if you need more go back.
Thank you so much for your review. Interesting to note that radio frequency facial caused fat loss in your face. Were you warned that this might be a possible side effect? Would you have done it had you known? I had small spots under my eyes (xanthoma). They seem to run in some of my family. I had CO2 laser done about 15 years ago. The lady (surgeon) was very careful. The spots didnt go entirely but I was happy with the results. The skin took 2 weeks to heal. The outcome was amazing because she was so gentle. Because the xanthoma are hereditary they do come back. About 5 years ago I went for another CO2 laser treatment. This time it was a male doctor (not a surgeon). I didnt realise during the procedure but he was very aggressive. The area took over 2 months to heal and I am left with slight scarring. That wasnt the worst of it. All the fat in my orbital area disappeared. I was left looking skeletal. At first I didnt realise because the area was swollen for so long. When the swelling went down I was horrified. I looked old and ill. My advice to anyone considering any sort of "heat" treatment to the face (or any part of the body for that matter), DONT DO IT!! You might think the immediate results are good, but that's because the area is swollen and stretched. Once the swelling goes down you will realise that the fat has dissipated and you look shrivelled. At that point there is no turning the clock back. For the lower hollowing I exercised the lower eyelid muscle. Unfortunately for the upper hollowing the only solution was surgery. I had fat pearls grafted. Its not 100% perfect but I look less tired unwell and old.
