Recovery for an explant was nothing. Pain management with tylenol for a day. You still have to wear a sports bra but not for the six weeks. I'm wearing it for 3 - 4 weeks. I can increase activity beginning in about a week. (approximately 3 weeks post surgery). I was warned about wearing a underwire bra. The rubbing can cause the scars to get hard. So I bought 2 wireless bras to get me through the rest of recovery. Then I'll buy some nice padded bras. The only thing I'm still upset about is the money I wasted. That will haunt me for a while.
My breast were deflated before. That's why I wanted implants. They were 350 cc HP, under the muscle. The PS claimed he needed to wait 6 weeks to lower the risk of infection. I know they thought I would change my mind. I looked like a pole dancer! Not even close to what I wanted. I think the mantra of PS is, go bigger....everyone wishes they went bigger. I can't tell you how many people in the office said that to me. Maybe I would have been happy if they had gone with an implant much smaller but I wasn't taking the risk of another implant and having results I wasn't happy with. I'll buy padded bras!
gemski22 - I had 350 cc HP silcone implants explant about a week ago. I had them in for 6 weeks. My breast look exactly as they did before. Don't worry, you'll be fine. Best decision I made was to explant.
Good luck with your surgery. I can empathize with you and your situation. My surgery date can't get here soon enough. I could not believe how many other women are in our boat. Reading their stories have given me solace.
Thank you for sharing. I notified my PS the other day that I want to explant. I also requested he move up the surgery date if possible. I don't expect that to happen. I think he believes if I have them for 6 weeks I will someway get used to them. Good luck with your recovery.
