I gently peeled my steri strips off in the shower the 2nd week after surgery. It's not scarey at all and the nipples are almost healed in their new position. I still use the telfa pads whenever the bottom incision gets irritated. I take them off to let air in at night but it offers some cushion from the bra. I use a minimum of paper tape to hold them in place, but I try to keep the tape to a minimum. I'm allergic to the tape!
Hi Jessie! I found my Genie Bras at BB&B! My surgeon put the ointment on for me during my 1st post surgical appt. The telfa pads are not moist but are softer than gauze and non-stick. The incisions healed quickly once I started that.
Another thing that helped that right side incision was Triple Antibiotic ointment. I'd rub that ointment on, and cover it with a telfa pad from the drug store then put on my bra. I found the Genie bra to be my most comfortable choice and still do!
I am nearly 4 weeks out from surgery. I still have a slight yellow drainage on my right side. I did have one day of numbing in my right arm too. I found the answer to incision pain and itching is ice! I am feeling much more comfortable now but those first 2 weeks I used the ice packs alot! Good luck! It gets better each day!
