It has been five weeks since my lower eyelid surgery. The big event was at seven days when I went back to see Dr. Buonassisi to have the stiches removed. He was finished in five minutes but took the time to check on my progress and answer my questions.
I went back to work after ten days. I was still somewhat swollen looking the the incisions were red, but I put a very small amount of concealer on them and no one at work asked me any questions.
Now at five weeks since surgery I am becoming more and more happy with the results. There is still a tiny amount of swelling under the eyes but nothing much. I have researched healing times after cosmetic surgery at length and I have learned that you have to count on a full three months before all swelling is gone. In rare cases it can be longer. I also have some redness along the incisions that are just a couple of millimeters below the lower lashes. This is not a concern for me because I know that over the next month or so it will disappear fully. Also, when I open my mouth fully I can feel tighness under the eyes. This is also something that will go away over time.
I am very happy so far with my healing process since getting the surgery. I wish I was 100% healed but I know I just have to be patient.
The healing time for lower blepharoplasty is ten days of so. Even after ten days the incisions will be visible and there is still the possibility that there could be bruising or swelling that can be seen. From all my research I have learned that ten days is enough time to go back to work and be seen in public without anyone really noticing anything. Of course, if they look hard, they will see the scars which can ultimately take months to fully disappear.
