Hi chazzypink,
I got your email but I haven't been able to figure out how to email you back, LOL.
When I did the mini tuck in Dec. 2008, the incision was about 1/2 inch above my groin/pubic area. That is definitely easily hidden under a bikini. When I did the modified tuck just 2 weeks ago, the doctor made the incision even lower (by the millimeters because there wasn't much further to go) so that I won't have 2 scars.
He wasn't the only surgeon I've seen about correcting my mini tuck and they all said the same thing, that I could have my scar even lower, not that it was necessary other than to avoid having train tracks on my belly. I'm 105 lbs and very petite and even so, they said there's skin to work with.
But I guess the bottom line is that I'm not a surgeon and only they can tell you what is or is not possible. If you want the name of my surgeon, I'll be more to happy to give it to you and maybe if you're out on the West coast visiting, you can swing by his place for a consultation.
Hi,
I know what you're feeling and I'm sorry. I kindda went through the same thing. I did a mini tuck after being told that the scar was about 6 inches long which is about 2 inches longer than my c-section scar, but would be much lower so I could hide it more easily. Of course afterwards, the scar was nearly hip to hip and I had no idea about drains and that I couldn't shower while I had the drains in (8 whole days). Needless to say I was shocked at both the scar/pain and then the post care that I hadn't expected. I refused a full tummy tuck all along because I didn't want that kind of scarring and now I managed to get into one without knowing so. My PS justified it by saying I had a lot of skin to work with.. all bull and if that were true, he should have told me during the consultation and pre-op, not let me wake up to it. And worse than the betrayal I felt, the mini tuck turned out HORRIBLE!.
4 months post op, my upper belly flops over the lumpy but flat bottom belly. The PS suggested that I do a full tuck and he'll discount it for me since I was unhappy but the scar's length would increase.. no way! Plus I don't trust him anymore.
I found another surgeon and I just did a modified tuck. It's been 2 weeks post op and I have high hopes because so far so good.
Go get some more opinions from other surgeons and if they start looking or smelling funny, go somewhere else. My 2nd experience was entirely different and much more positive than the first.
And finally, I can tell you that you can get the scar lowered through another tuck or modified tuck and don't let any surgeon tell you that it's not do-able because I know for a fact that is it.
