I had my abdomen (upper & lower) done on March 1st. I STILL have pain every day. I hated the compression garment they gave me but I found if I went without it for more than a few hours I became more painful. The garment helps hold you in so the swelling will go down sooner. (It does take a long time for the swelling to go down), I still have some swelling, and I'm told it could take up to a year before you really feel healed. I wouldn't switch to the Spanx, I have one of those and comparing to the garment I received from the doctor, it doesn't have as much compression. I wore mine for 8 weeks, and still wear it occasionally. My tummy is noticeably slimmer but I still have those wrinkles, I hope the skin will continue shrinking. I wasnt overweight to begin with, I just had that tummy bulge. I would like to have my flanks done but we'll see. Good luck in your recovery!
You didn't say where you're having the lipo, and when you say "recover" you will not be fully recovered in 3 weeks. I am over 8 weeks from abdominal smart lipo, and still have a very sensitive tummy. I wore my compression garment for 2 weeks, then took a few days off only to realize I felt better with it on, it went from being a miserable contraption to my security blanket! I still wear the garment but not every day. I feel more painful if I go without it for more than a couple days. My results are noticeable but I still have some wrinkling around my navel. I hope the skin smoothes out and shrinks down more. I can't really tell if I'm still swollen, but suspect if I'm still having pain that it is very possible. But back to your question if you'll recover in 3 weeks, yes you will be back to most of your activities, but don't expect to see full results for months.
