It has been 8 months now since I have had a tummy tuck. I have gone back to the doctor for my 6 month post op. My tummy still looks the same as the posted picture. I am having the tummy tuck again in Jan or Feb. I am still not clear on why this surgery has resulted with this look. Now the doctor told me that when we do the surgery again I will now have a vertical scar line. I sent an email questioning this and below is the answer I received. I am still unclear on this. Any other doctors have an opinion?
Dr's email response:
Generally we cut around the belly button to do most tummy tucks. This cut or potential scar is eliminated if all of the skin between the pubic hair and belly button can be removed. A vertical scar representing the cut around the belly button is left when there is insufficient skin redundancy to allow complete removal of skin. This is your situation. We chose not to cut around your umbilicus because of this.
In the pictures I see of tummy tucks people don't have this vertical scar. I don't understand. Please help my confusion.
