Hi Marjayrey, glad to hear that at least the worst of the tightness appears to be over. As for your new symptoms, yes, its's frustrating when you feel that you've taken one step forward & two back. I can honestly say that this whole experience has been THE most frustrating of my entire life! After 7 months, the novelty has definitely worn off. I'm doing relatively Ok some days; others days, not so much. I don't know if I'll ever really feel "normal" again. I can only pray that I will someday soon. All those strange sensations you're having are probably due to healing nerves -- that can go on for a while. I still have a lot of weird feelings around face, neck & ears although they seem to be settling down a bit lately. Have you gone back to your ps about the things you're not happy with? Maybe he can do a revision later on. Best of luck to you.
Yes, the ear lobe numbness went away somewhere around the 3rd month. I still have some residual numbness in front of ears, though. I understand it can easily take 1 year to 18 months for all numbness to clear. Good luck!
Yes, I feel the same way that you do about this forum -- it's great, the whole website is. As for feeling good every now & then -- it does give you hope. You may have read in one of my other posts that I consistently feel good (i.e., "normal") for the first two hours of the morning & all evening and then am pretty uncomfortable the rest of the day.(tightness mostly) When my stress level increases at work, the tightness is really miserable. I'm at 7 months. I never thought I'd be dealing with these issues this late in the game. In fact, I'm leaving my job in a few weeks so I can relax and focus fully on finishing this crazy healing process. (By the way, I think you definitely made the right decision regarding your eyes -- the way I feel about it, no one is ever going near my eyes with a scalpel unless it's a medical necessity!)
You're certainly not a fool. I understand 100% how you feel. When I was young I used to literally turn heads (looked just like a young Liz Taylor) Aging has been tough for me, too. Realizing that you're not young & beautiful anymore is painful. Looking in the mirror and seeing hanging jowls and turkey neck is no fun. And although I never actually hated my face, I wasn't happy when I looked in the mirror. My problem is I just wasn't mentally prepared for how tough and long the recovery has been. I was naive thinking that because I had "only" a mini-lift, I really would be OK in a matter of weeks. DUMB (I never had any kind of surgery before.) There are lots of people who have totally problem-free recoveries. In fact, I personally know people who had much more invasive procedures than what I had and they were totally fine within a couple of months. So who knows? It's all a big crapshoot. I truly wish you the best possible outcome and that you will find the peace and self-acceptance you deserve.
Hi Marjarey, 7 weeks is not very long at all -- my first 3 months were hell. Be patient with yourself & the process and don't hesitate to ask your ps whatever you need to know. Best of luck to you.
