Thanks Angela - my point was that nothing much works and palomar fraxel potentially causes more problems than it solves. I have many friends all different ages and skin tones and no- one I know would do it again. Some had lasting issues with stamping hyper pigmentation and in growing hairs - I don't think it much matters who does it or how. I am happy to make recommendations for some procedures - but this isn't one - so my advice to everyone is save your money and dreams of improvement on this...
It's all pretty much a waste of time and money in my opinion - there are just a couple f items that really work. If you have younger skin it will look good for a while but you will soon be back to where you started. Fillers are good but expensive and temporary - Botox is ok to avoid wrinkles but not too much or you look frozen and everyone knows you did it - despite how you see yourself in the mirror others can readily see immobility in your face - it's somewhat unnatural. If you want to get rid of wrinkles and orange peel skin or hyper pigmentation you have to get a 'full laser' treatment one that takes weeks to recover from - anything short of that and results will be temporary - no matter how many 'treatments' you have. Peels are good but a real peel needs to be just that - not the mini peels after which your skin does not peel. Really ladies no pain no gain. I haven't tried any of the thermal products but I suspect .... Ipl is good for odd freckles or splotches or spider veins .. Just my opinion - am just a regular customer searching for the magic bullet
Thanks Megan - but many of the testimonials are not Fraxel - for example the very first one from Sharon (who is Dr. Reddy's assistant) who also had (multiple) face lifts, fillers, botox (the works) and ablative laser (the one that takes a couple of months to recover from). Many others had different treatments or combos and some are not a year out and haven' yet seen their skin return to its old ways. The mix of treatments also is not pure Fraxel - some have had other work including fillers etc., My experience was just plain old Fraxel over 4 months - -4 sessions and at first there was some improvement - but this disappeared fairly quickly. I am just trying to tell it like I see it. I know everyone is different - I am 55 and a blue eyed blond who eats right and exercises and stays out of the sun - I believe I gave it every chance but feel duped - luckily I don't have any long term problems like some others. However, as I said I am just sharing my point of view and people can take it or leave it.
Have to agree - we are not all looking for a magic bullet but expect something for our money and maybe half of what is promised. My experience with laser was a complete waste of money - but worse you begin not to trust any of this stuff. If I bought a jar of cream that promises something and it doesn't produce - I have the right to return it... but these treatments fail to provide and there is no recourse. It makes me mad that providers of these treatments chime in to say how stupid we are and that our experiences are "uncommon." Obviously, they are not! I have had ingrowing hairs and stamp marks from this treatment - and many of the others are useless as well - unless you can afford to do them every week. Botox got rid of my 11s but produced a new wrinkle across the bridge of my nose, filler doesn't last and is crazy priced. Has anyone actually had this procedure and seen beneficial results... ? I haven't heard or seen anyone (at least anyone who isn't 14 years old and doesn't need it anyway!) and except for those airbrushed photos... this is all a bunch of crap if you have a serious wrinkle or scar - save your money!
Sorry I missed your post - I have to say that I had the full ablative laser treatment 15 years ago - 6 months of redness but an amazingly smooth face that lasted 10 years! I was hoping the new fraxel was going to be at least 50% comparable - but I cannot say that it seems worth the money - I guess no pain no gain!
