Yeah, so wonderful that when I wrote a post about what my DOCTOR told me I could do, they deleted it because it did not coincide with their views. Realself is just that, REAL, not a biased over opinionated bunch of old women telling other women what to do. I am so sorry that you do not agree with my point of view, but rather than voice your 2 cents on my post of advice, please create your own.
I havent used any scar treatment and i dont know if i will. i have fairly dark pink scars underneath both breasts but to me, its not a concern. the scars around my areola's are fading nicely on their own. I have had two children so from my point of view, these scars are just icing on the cake. My husband isnt bothered by them so im not going to bother with them. Having said that, I have read about several women using silicone scar sheets and having great success with them.
I was back at fully recoverd capacity around 6 weeks. I got alot of info from breasthealthonline.org. Check under the breast reduction board for some great info but PLEASE BEWARE, the site is moderated by some over-zealous women who are in their 60's and wont agree with you even getting out of bed before 3 months. There is a TON of info on the site though, I took alot of it in and it was useful, some of it i had to toss to the side because I know my body. There are thousands of women on that site and they all post their real experiences so thats nice. I just urge you to take the immobility advice with a grain of salt. I think being mobile and active immediatley after my surgery helped my a ton, and i also think that not doing anything for the first several weeks will hamper someones recovery. Get up, get the blood flowing. if you stay down too long you will be overly sore and your body will be weak. Im warning you now though, if you post a comment on the site about returning to the gym before 3-4 months, you will be attacked, so please be cautious, it happened to me.
I also had a 35# daughter and a 6 months old at the time of my BR. I had no choice, i had to pick them up, bathe them, feed them, get them off to daycare and such. I did it all, slowly, but without any issues at all. I healed just fine. Women are more resiliant than we give ourselves credit for, our bodys are strong, and there isnt much they cant take
