Had a tiny amount of juvederm placed 1 week ago into an acne divot located on the crease of my left nostril and cheek. The nurse injector attempted to be somewhat superficial with the initial injection, but the product wouldn't correct the divot. She went deeper into the skin and injected probably 0.05 ml into the area and the divot was filled. I had the initial numbness feeling from the lidocaine in the product, and that faded within a few hours. I noticed that evening that my nose was running and having post nasal drip only in the side that was injected. I also felt my sinus cavity swelling on that side only. I woke up the next morning with my entire sinus cavity swollen and my equilibrium feeling off. I felt slightly dizzy and thought I was getting a sinus infection. Slight tingly, pins needles feeling running from my lower eyelid to lips also. Went to ear, nose and throat dr and she noticed significant swelling of that sinus cavity only, she didn't believe the juvederm would cause any of those symptoms. As the days progressed, I continued to feel tingly on the injection side and closed off sinus. Also, things just didn't look the same. I tried to focus on people's faces when I talked to them, and I could see them but it just looked different and off balance. I progressed to getting a neuralgia facial pain because I massaged the injection area and i assume inflamed the nerve there. I studied the nerve and lymphatic anatomy of the face in that region and saw the maxillary branch of the facial nerve branches off and can be located exactly in the region my injection was done. I had hyaulonidase injected yesterday with my thoughts being that the juvederm continued to press on that nerve and irritate it. I'm hoping that the hyaulonidase will actually get into the juvederm because I did a lot if massaging in that area and hopefully didn't disperse it too much. My face still feels tingly and I also feel some pressure type feelings in the upper teeth in that region, my left sinus is still swollen, but has improved a little since 1 week ago. My final conclusion is the injection itself irritated the maxillary nerve in that area, maybe affected the lymph channels in that area, and caused me to have sinus pressure and fullness on that side, tingling and pins and needles in my cheek, lower eyelid and lips in that area, and also visual disturbances on my left eye. Question is : is the juvederm still in that region compressing something, or is it my nerve trying to heal from the trauma if the needle and the filler? Ive lost a lot if sleep and countless hours trying to figure this out. Too many panic attacks worrying that thus is permanent. Don't know what to think anymore. Very frustrated and mad at myself for trying to fill a divot that was my fault to begin with! Hope it resolves!
