Ps....as to where to buy the garment....I got mine at Target...."smart assets" by the maker of spanx. Works great. I have been washing both that I have and using them 24 hours a day, as prescribed by the doc. Spanx, or any other brand should be good. Spanx can be bought at any department store. Target has some good options too that are more affordable.
I did end up buying an extra compression garment. I am small boned by nature and fairly fit. I did the procedure because I had two babies and though a size 0, had a lovely "ring" of fat around my stomach and back that looked so gross when I wore my jeans. I am tiny, but had this "ring" i couldn't get rid of no matter how hard I worked out. So, off I went to the surgeon. I knew I didn't have alot to lose, so to speak, so after alot of research, felt smart lipo was the answer. I am VERY happy. I hope you have the same results. But, to get back to your answer (thought you may appreciate some details, as I researched and researched before mine too....), YES, get another garment. I am still wearing them (again, 6 days out). You will need to wash the first one, as I did "leak" alot the first 24 hours. Make sure they send you home with atleast 12 pads. Those are really helpful. I would change them out every 6 hours or so the first 24 hours. Two in front on my abs and two in back on my flanks, positioned where the incision points are.
As far as the surgery itself went, it was not that bad. The part that hurt the most was near the belly button. My Doc had warned me about that before the procedure. However, it felt like little "stings" every so often and was very manageable overall. The flanks were seriously....a piece of cake. Did not hurt one bit. My Doc did stomach first and I would ask for that, as it was the most uncomfortable and everything after was so easy. I did take the pain pills prescribed for two days post op and would recommend that, as it (I believe), made the recovery pretty smooth. Good luck! Let me know how it goes and if you have any further questions, feel free to contact me! This was my first ever procedure, so I was pretty nervous. I am very happy I did it!
Five days should be plenty! I just had mine done 6 days ago (abs and flanks) and though I feel bruised, all pain is gone! I am VERY satisfied so far and can't wait to see the final results. I am very happy I did it and hope you are equally happy with yours!
