Sounds like such a great night out for you, tt! That must have been very validating to get all of those compliments. Makes the long recovery worth it, right? ;-)
Hi finally- I'm 5 weeks PO tomorrow, and I have the same swelling as you describe. Mine starts just above the incision line and goes down to and includes the pubic mound. I also seem to be more swollen on my right side than the left. I, too, never wake up totally flat. It is definitely less first thing in the morning, but certainly not completely flat.
I've always known that I'm not getting enough pressure to that region with my binder and CG. They seem to be tight in the upper abdomen, but much less so where I'm swelling. Stands to reason that the fluid was being pushed lower then, right? So the other night I decided to sleep without anything (binder, CG) and see what happens. *My PS had given me the clear at 4 weeks to go without if I wanted.* Well, I woke up the flattest I have ever been!
I've also started really massaging the swollen areas vigorously 2x/day, especially in the shower with the hot water. It seems to have made the area less hard to the touch.
Of course, the decrease in swelling could have nothing to do with anything I've been doing!! LOL
Wow, we all really do experience a lot of the same things. I have been having the weird full body stretches, too! I didn't post about it because I didn't know how to describe it and figured I was the only one. It only happens for me when I change positions in my bed at night. Scares me to give in too much because I can feel my abs working!
I haven't been on our forum in a couple of days and missed so many posts! Can I just say how much I LOVE our January group?! We are a chatty bunch, aren't we?? LOL We seem to post a lot compared to other months and boy, that suits me just fine :-) I'm so happy I had my surgery in January and "met" all you awesome gals!
tt, I'm like sassy- nothing on my incision from the very beginning. I saw my PS a few days ago at 3 weeks PO, and he said it was OK to start massaging the incision and using Vitamin E oil or Maderma or Bio-oil, etc., on it.
