I understand that Vitamin E has no documented studies that say it is good for scars, and that the potential for side effects, such as rash, outweighs the low potential for benefits.
Hi! In my book, getting a BR is a very personal decision. Even if breasts look pleasing to others, YOU are the one that has to deal with the pain, as well as the physical and emotional discomfort. Thinking about the scars can be rather intimidating. Have you thought about asking your doctor about the lejour/vertical/short scar technique? These techniques only give you a vertical scar, from your nipple to your inframammary crease. You would not have the horizontal scar under your breast. They use this technique with removals less than 750 cc. It is the technique I will be getting on June 8. It has less scarring and gives you a nice lift. It even lifts the inframmamary fold, giving breasts a more heightened, perky, and youthful look. The scars mature in 6-12 months, and eventually become nearly the same color as your skin.
I would advise against swimming for the first 2 months after your surgery. Getting into a pool, or even a bath, increases the amount of bacteria your skin is exposed to. Considering there is a compromise of your skin, as well as your immune system, after ANY surgery, it would be a good idea to hold off on the swimming. Better to hold off now that to deal with an infection that delays the healing and can potentially cause poor healing, and more visibility, of your scars.
