Watch your sodium/salt intake
Arnica Montana topical and oral has seemed to help me (topical more so than oral)
Drink, drink, drink!!!!! Very important
Bromelain- haven't seen a difference but take it anyway
Ask dr to prescribe a diuretic- I got one, 2x/7days. Really helped
Line the zippers on your compression garment with maxi pads
Lay down to rest several times a day for fluid to distribute to the sides
Anyone else have any tips let us all know. Dying for this swelling to go down!
The swelling is still so bad I'm not sure if it's normal or not. I think I may have a seroma on my left side above my stitches. Normally my belly, sides, and back get firm or hard when swollen but this one spot is squishy for lack of better adjective.
And, I'm still needing the percocet for pain. I tried to switch to Tylenol but it didn't help at all. I'm about out and will need another refil. I'm starting to wonder if I'm being a baby or it hurts this long for everyone. I have a high tolerance for pain so I don't think I'm being a baby.
Anyone else still dealing with pain or have a seroma????
So to compare notes with everyone...the really really firm parts of the belly/back is the swelling??? It's weird because I'll be fine one minute, or so it seems, then I'll be rock hard and feel like I have a heavy belt squeezing me so tight I can't stand up straight. Is this an accurate description of 'swell hell'? Any tips on reducing the swelling??? For me, it's the worst part!
I got my drains out today. Yay!!!!! Felt weird but not painful. My compression garment is starting to fit better. Dr suggested lining the inside zippers with maxipads. I bought the old school phone book kind. I also use them over my scar. Can't wait for the next few weeks to pass and the swelling to go down.
I am sucking it up and wearing the compression garment today. Just spoke with the dr and they are going to let me try a larger size. I worry about wearing anything else because he said its not the same.
