If your skin is very light and the tech knows what she is doing, then IPL can be fine but the safer route actually is laser. Many people think that just because a plulsed light is not a laser, then it cant harm you. As you can see from the posts, thats not true. Any of these machines can be dangerous with an unskilled technician. The safest laser especially for darker skins is a YAG.
  • Posted to Can Someone with a Medical Aesthetics License Inject Botox in Texas? on 11 Sep 2012

I am an esthetician who works in the medical industry and has certification on various lasers and modalities for over a decade. I have been described as a "medical esthetician" only for lack of a better word. In all honesty, there is no such licensure to be a medical esthetician so there really is no such thing. As for whether an esthetician can perform botox of course, only if the supervising physician deligates them to do so, needs to be determined by the state medical board. If that is the case, then a physician can deligate ANYONE to do botox...a plumber, a waitress, etc....
