Has anyone started working out WITHOUT a garmet or binder? I am 9 weeks and am not wearing it during the day or night, only to work out. I am ready to either ditch the thing all together, or wear it overnight the evenings that I work out at the gym. I am concerned about swelling and soreness though.
I train through YogaFit International. Part of the reason behind my TT was that I was tired of doing poses an my belly either getting in the way, or hanging out there for everyone to see. Lol....especially when I'm the teacher!!!!
I'm 8 weeks post op and back to teaching yoga. I went to the studio last week to take a couple of beginner classes and ease myself back into things, but all was well.
The class I teach started a brand new session this week...lots of beginners so I get to start slow and build strength with them. Cobra pose makes me a little nervous and I'm protective of stretching my belly out very much in that pose, but overall I feel great when finished. After all those weeks walking hunched my tummy could use some good stretching and strengthening. I'm back to full plank poses, held for 8 breaths too!!!
Thanks Ma! They are seeing me with clothes on, lol. I've got plenty of toning to do. Read through your blog. You are a solider!!! Keep up the rest and each week gets better and better. Can't wait to see how your final results evolve (mine too). ;-)
Hi Aje22. It amazes me how so many PS have different outlooks on their artwork and healing ;) I was able to get out of the binder after one week and go to a "spanx" type garmet. I use the Flexees brand, which can be purchased at Khols, Macys, or JcPenny. I have one that is a corset type, one that is like boy shorts, and one that is like very high underwear. The boy shorts are my favorite. For using the bathroom I just pull the leg to the side. They tend to lift my butt up some too. lol. I wear the underwear one to bed at night and the boy shorts during the day.
I LOVE the spaxs SO much better as they have more flexibility and feel natural. I am at 4.5 weeks and try to go 1-2 hours per day w/o anything on so that I can work myself out of wearing it. I was told at the beginning on healing that I only need to wear it for 4 weeks, but I'm not ready to take it off yet....plus I see my doc on Monday for a 5 week check up. I'm waiting to see if he tells me I'm cleared (still won't take it off yet though).
From reading posts on this site it seems that when you begin to do something that is new to your healing body, our body will go through a swelling period as it adjusts. I'm bringing this up as a reminder to myself, and maybe advice to you, that swelling might come when changing our garmet wearing patterns, eating patterns, exercise patterns, etc.
Have a great holiday & good luck finding the right garmet for you!
