I have had this treatment done on my face and it took about 3 months for the tiny dots, which I covered quite easily with makeup, to disappear. The result was amazing afterward!

Berlie, I was reading your comments regarding your acne scars and just wondered if have you ever considered a subcision for your deeper acne scars? This works really well. One of our patients said it changed her life. Good luck to you!

The question you should be asking when having this procedure done is, "How much experience do you have?" An experienced operator can do wonders. I won't let anyone less than an RN touch me with this equipment. They have the critical thinking skills necessary to trouble shooting difficult treatment areas. As for the person who went out into the sun and it "all came back", one of the first things we teach our patients is to use proper sun protection (colorescience sunforgettable is a powder and has titanium dioxide as well as zinc oxide, which works very well). When you undergo these treatments you are making a decision to change your lifestyle. You already know you are susceptible to sun damage, so you must always wear sun protection when out in the sun to prevent the "undoing" of your successful treatments. I recommend patients have one follow-up photofacial each year after completing a series.

I would have to agree. I've used the 1540 as well as had treatment for acne scarring on my chin and I've never seen or had any patient report "scabs". I have seen grid like patterns, but they go away in time. The "acne" some folks have reported is just the body shedding the cellular debris left over from the treated areas and will resolve as those areas heal. Overall, I have been very pleased with the Palomar 1540 Fractional handpiece and will recommend it to my patients for skin tightening and acne scars.
