Give yourself time. And remember the more you move around during the day the more swelling you will have. It takes time for everything to heal on the inside as well as on the outside. You haven't even reached a month. Relax, and in time things will change. Do some research certain foods can help with the swelling and the recovery. (Pineapple is good for skin healing etc). I am just now really learning to accept my new body and to understand that if I eat incorrectly and gain a few pounds I can see it and I have to adjust my intake. Sometimes it is just the salt in the food not so much the food itself. I had a binder on for about 8 weeks and I slowly cut back on using it, I think it helps with the swelling but follow your Dr's instructions.
My experience I would say no. The first week was a bit rough, I didn't have a lot of pain didn't do any pain meds except for the first day after. But I would get tired and need to just sit/lay and rest. I slept a lot and was not a big fan of riding in a car. But everyone is different I would not expect you to jump up on day 3 get yourself showered (I could not shower till I went back for my 1 week check up) jump in the car and drive to someones house for the day, unless they are going to set you up in a recliner or sofa and allow you to relax. But only you will be able to determine that. What did you Dr say about going out, if he hasn't said anything I would ask and see what his advise is.
I would say that the gas is just the way your body is reacting to the surgery. Anytime the body is put under stress it reacts. Best thing to do is call your PS and check with him. This will let him know where you are as far as pain and if he says it is normal it will help you relax and recovery. Never be afraid to give him a call. I wore a binder for 8 weeks the Dr explained that a binder helps the skin re connect to the body. It should not be super tight but snug. Even after he told me that I no longer needed it, it actually felt better to wear it when I was at work. Seemed to hold everything in and it helped with the little pains. But I would do whatever he tells you to do. MyTimeisNow is right a gentle massage my also help with the gas. I know it is hard to relax when you are having such discomfort. I hope the suggestions are helping. Just know it will not last forever you will heal and one day be good as new with a nice little tummy. Best wishes.
You are going to enjoy the new you. I just feel so good and I love to wear cloths that make my body look nice. Since I am not a young person I didn't do this so I could wear sexy cloths, but I did want to fit nice into my cloths. I work in an office I wanted to be able to wear a nice dress or slacks without having to try and hide that belt of flesh. And what a joy it is to pull up my jeans and just zip and button. LOVE IT
