Based on everything you've said, your results are so far outside of the norm and the doctor's assistant admitted as much. When all is done, and you are sure that you don't have any permanent scars or issues that will need any ongoing treatment, I would make a demand for lost wages and pain and suffering. And if they refuse, I would take them to small claims court for the money. This is beyond unacceptable. I would also file a complaint with the state medical board. I had a pretty horrible recovery but nothing compared to what you are experiencing. It's wrong, you should be made whole financially, and they need to stop doing these procedures if they can't do them correctly. I hope you are doing better today.
Sorry...I just saw this second follow up after I responded to the first comment. I'm glad you talked to her about it and there is no blistering. It is most definitely not a "no downtime" procedure. I would like to have it done again but who has 10 days where they can do nothing but hide out at home? The doctor told me it would be better this time since it's my second treatment, but I don't know if I believe him! :)
I did not have the square outline - it was just spots and specks all over my face. The face that you can see the square outline would be concerning to me. Did a doctor do it? I would be concerned about burns. Sorry to be a downer. :(
I had not considered it long - I saw my dermatologist a couple of months previously for my regular annual check and he talked to me about it then. I didn't do as much research as I probably should have. I have good communication with this doctor and I tend to trust what he tells me on face value probably more than I should. :) I saw him last week for a follow up and he is recommending one more treatment, but I am going to wait for a little bit. This time I will schedule it intending to have more downtime that the "typical" response. Thanks!
Just by way of an update....it's now 14 days after I had IPL and the results are fantastic. The recovery process was very long and was much more than I anticipated. It was probably 10 or 11 days before I felt that I looked okay enough to leave the house although people still looked at me a bit strangely. I now feel fully recovered and I am thrilled with the results. My sun damage is gone, my pores are invisible, and my skin looks just fresher and younger.
Knowing everything I know now, I would probably do it again with the understanding that I would need to carve out quite a bit of time for recovery. The doctor insists that I had an "extreme" response (he meant that in a good way) but the whole hoping and waiting was very stressful.
