I have read your postings and am very sorry for what you have gone through in your treatments! What we are trying to address in this specific forum is the Palomar 1540 services and not the Fraxel services. There is an Infrared handpiece from Palomar but THAT IS NOT what is adressed here either. I just want to make sure that I address any concerns you may have with the Palomar 1540, if any. The following is the Specs for the 1540: Wavelength 1540 nm Spot Size Two treatment lens arrays: 10 and 15 mm (470 microbeams on the 15mm tip) Microbeam density 100 and 320 spots per cm2, respectively Pulsewidth 10 and 15 ms Max. repetition rate 1.5 pulse per sec Max. Energy 70 mJ/microbeam (taken directly from manufactureres website) I totally agree with you for the need of patients to research and ask questions, but also see the need to have them informed correctly on their services, which is what I hope to acheive by replying here with my peers.

Debora- I would strongly urge you to take your findings and your concerns to the Doctor/Facility that provided your services. This sounds very wrong, anyone trained by Palomar would know not to operate within the periocular area (your eyes) and definitely not OVER the eyelid. I am sorry for your troubles and wish only for the best outcome for you!

Laura, I am so glad to hear that your treatments are successful! My patients have pretty much the same results as you, and I am sure that your doctor has been able to get you on a slightly heavier moisturizer to ensure proper hydration for the changes now going on in your skin! I wish you the best of luck!

The 1540 Palomar and the re:fine and re:store treatments are very similar in action. Skin is left intact and only micro columns are treated (about 20-25% of the surface skin with each service) which is why your techs will recommend a series for more moderately damaged areas. All three services can resurface damaged skin and uncover the skin of your youth — all with minimal impact on your daily routine. These are Non-Ablative services that treat: wrinkles around the eyes, parenthesis around mouth, acne scars, surgical scars, age spots/sunspots, melasma and Actinic Keratoses. Downtime is advertised by both laser systems as: none to returning to regular activities the very next day. There are other forms of fraxel that are ablative and surgery quality like. If that is your desired result, that is where you need to investigate. Good luck and I am sure that whatever you choose, an informed decision will be the best one!

Sharon, I am sorry I was unable to respond any sooner. I hope that you had your treatments and am confident that you have had great results! As always the questions you are posing here should be the ones you speak with directly to your laser operators. They are working under doctors that have both knowledge and experience to give you a lasting results!
