I posted a comment previously but I thought I'd reiterate my experience. It's been 4 months since my injections and I'm very pleased with the results. The folds around my mouth could have used a little more filler, but my doc is very conservative and wanted to see how I liked the look. The only advice I have to offer is make sure your doctor is very reputable and has experience with the product.

I think my doc said it would last 6-8 months, but could not give me a definite time frame. When I made the appointment, they told me no asprin, blood thinners of any type, etc., etc., etc. They gave me an ice pack when I left the office and said to ice the injection sites. I will definitely do it again when the times comes, but may ask for "a little more" in the folds. I do remember my doc saying something about making sure that I like the Juvederm which may be why I don't think he did enough in the folds. You are right --- what we women go through. I just hope that 15 years down the road we don't hear on the news that all of this stuff causes brain tumors or something.

    Hi Marcyann!

Yeah, my doc said something about "going deep" because of the thickness of the juvederm. He is ultra-conservative and I assume this is a good thing. He has had a lot of experience with fillers -- he used to have his nurse do them but decided he wasn't as pleased with the results as when he did them himself. I bruise easily anyway (one of those people that wake up in the morning and wonder where I got that bruise on my arm or leg). The bruising wasn't so bad -- make up did a great job of covering it up. I had NO brusing or swelling around the mouth at all. So you are happy with the results? Not sure yet? I think my doc used one syringe for under both eyes AND folds! I know he said that for under the eyes, you have to go very deep (almost to the bone) in order for it to look natural. Thanks a bunch for commenting! Let me know, if you don't mind, your final "verdict" on the Juvederm. Thanks~!

Did your "parenthesis" go away completely or just soften? I love the result under my eyes, but didn't think it did as good a job on my folds around the mouth. My doc is conservative also, (never have to worry about looking like catwoman leaving his office!) and I'm wondering if he just didn't use enough.

Wow -- that's surprising regarding Botox. I've had numerous surgeons tell me that they have had problems with Botox under the eyes -- drooping eyes, temporary paralysis, etc. Botox is one of the most potent neuro-toxins from what I found in my research. Never heard blindness from Juvederm. Ohh Well. It works for me! I don't think there is one filler on the market that doesn't have it's own risks. Just like birth control -- millions of women take it their entire lives, yet there have been cases of women who have had strokes or heart attacks from using the contraceptive. My own opinion is that none of this stuff is "natural" - I mean we weren't born with it in our bodies. So really, does anyone, including the FDA or surgeons know what true long term side effects are possible? This could even be said for almost any medication we take today. (with the exception of good old asprin. Anytime we undergo surgery, inject our bodies with a foreign substance, etc., there is always a small risk.
