  • Posted to Fraxel Destroyed my Skin...surprised? Fraxel Dual 1927 Wavelength - Boston, MA on 13 Nov 2012

for example this is what causes the famous orange peel skin texture "deleted collagen is inadequately replaced and forms a pitted appearance resembling the surface of a golf ball. (Laser Revision of Scars, Dr. Keyvan Nouri, MD)" So you can see that it isn't absurd when i say that these lasers can cause important negative changes in our collagen structure. The way our skin looks like depends alot on the amount and the structure of the collagen and if the "deleted collagen is inadequally replaced " than your skin is going to look that way.....let me know what he said when you had the consultation ciao

Great! he's also very very renowned in the field of laser and aesthetic dermatology. Remember that fraxel and other lasers have been invented/developed at the dermatology department of MGH. in fact , famous laser companies like Candela are located in boston..... you are lucky to live in boston as you can get the opinion and help of some of the most important experts in the field....please tell him exactly what changes you experienced and still experiencing and show him some pics of other persons with the same damage or worser /i.e. angela walker (you'll find them on realself and iplandlaserdamagesupport).....it seems to me that you are experiencing the SAME textural issues as many many other fraxel or ipl victims --> fine lines(horizontal and vertical ) appearing, dry skin, very leathery, scarring, orange peel skin texture, worsening of skin texture.....you will not or hardly find sth. about these side effects on official dermatology literature....but they are REAL and have being described by people all over the world.....and the worst thing is that these side effects appear and get worser over time (not our imagination)..... it is my personal opinion that only 3/4 years after your procedure you can be sure that there won't be more changes(worsening of your skin) related to the laser. As you are going to have a consultation with such a big expert you'll have to determine 2 things: 1)what's going on in my skin (and the skin of others with similar damage), what kind of damage did i suffer?DNA damage , changes in the COLLAGEN STRUCTURE, maybe collagen loss? 2) how can i improve my situation and minimize more damage? They may will laugh at you and deny, but the changes in skin appearence that you (we) experience are real and in my opinion related to important negative changes in the collagen structure (changes that normally occur only after 10-20 years of (intense) sun exposure) and maybe even dna damage of skin cells(what causes also important textural changes). How i already wrote you , just let them analyze /compare (i think they do it with the microscope) the skin of the lasered area with untreated skin close to your face to understand what happened, something like that--> http://archderm.jamanetwork.com/article.aspx?articleid=479061 this is relatively esay and can be done at MGH. Regardless, I have to say that you are a good looking guy and I honestly believe that nobody will ever judge you negatively or find you unattractive because of your skin....remember what for you can be very stressfull or even disfiguring, others may never or hardly notice.....please let me know what he said to you after your consultations as i'm experiencing similar skin texture changes under my right eye....fraxel victims want to know from the fraxel developers/inventors what their laser did to our skin..... let me know ciao! (i'm sorry for my bad english)

Hi! i'm sorry to hear about your bad experience with fraxel. i was also severely damaged by this laser(palomar fraxel 1540). As you live in Boston I strongly recommend that you see Dr. Richard Rox Anderson at Harvard's Massachussetts General Hospital, who is the INVENTOR of the fraxel laser technology and most important one of the worlds most renowned laser doctors and experts in aesthetic dermatology. He is also very well known here in italy among dermatologists and you won't find a bigger expert in the field of laser dermatology in the usa. if he doesn't know how your skin was damaged and how to improve your issues than propably nobody will. i'm curious if he will deny like all the doctors do, that lasers can't do that. i would also print some fraxel laser victims pics from realself (like the face of angela walker) and iplandlaserdamagesupport and show them to dr anderson...he could examine your skin under the microscope and compare it with untreated skin to see what kind of damage was done( for example how does your collagen look like compared to untreated skin, have there been any dna mutations?)...it is the theory of many fraxel laser victims that in some cases fraxel lasers can cause in only one session what the sun causes in like 15-20 years....DNA DAMAGE( and because of this your lasered skin gets worser in the months and even years after the first and only procedure), destroys your natural collagen in the skin and this leads to the typical signs of aging : dry skin, fine lines, wrinkles, rough /bad skin texture, open sores, sometimes permanent redness (like in my case), hyperpigmentation. Also fat loss has being experienced. Unfortunately all these real and relativetely common side effects that people all over the world experienced and are experiencing have not being studied or only very little. This because doctors and most important laser companies do do not want consumesr to know about these risks (it's a billion dollare buiseness). Remember people would kill for money. It's like with antidperessants, only after many years doctors, pharmaceutical companys and fda realized and admitted that in some cases they can cause suicidal thougts (and ultimately lead to suicide).Maybe in the future the medical community will admit these side effects->that lasers even if performed properly, with right settings, from a board certified doctor can cause artificia and premature skin aging and /or worsen the appearence of your skin.I do not say that lasers have to be completely eliminated but people do have the right to know all the potential risks of these procedures in time trough an informed consent and photos that show these side effects.how i saidDr rox Anderson is the best address for you problems now and if you go to see him please show him as many as possible pics of fraxel laser victims.. Itis time that some major university medical center start to do some studies on these side effects that all doctors deny (" lasers can't cause wrinkles", "lasers can't cause dry skin" etc.). what did the lasers do to our skin, is it dna damage , changes in the collagen? another thing, if you are experiencing anxiety and /or depression after your frxel procedure (like many lasers victims do) i recommend that you see a psychyatrist/psychotherapist and get some antidepressants and therpay ....this can only be helpfull.....this is the website of MGH :http://www.massgeneral.org/dermatology/doctors/doctor.aspx?id=16786
