I haven't had a headache for four days! I'm hoping it is over. After 7 weeks of severe headaches I'm going to finally have an opportunity if botox will actually prevent migraines. Still won't ever do it again, but am hopeful that we're done now with the side effects. Will knock wood while I put the ice bag back into the closet...
I hadn't mentioned this before, but I had 40 units. I've had six weeks now of severe, daily headaches. I've also had two migraines that are among the worst I've ever had. I certainly will never have botox again! If I was advised of possible side effects of this nature, I certainly do not remember it. I just keep telling myself to keep in mind that this should be temporary. Lesson certainly learned.
Ladies: Thanks for your advice. I actually have muscle relaxers on hand and last night I took one at bedtime...the headache I woke up with was about half what I have been having. I don't like taking them in the day because they make me sleepy. Being more on top of my multivitamins would not hurt so I'll make sure I add them in. Vitamin C I hadn't thought of.
The one thing that has helped is a good old fashioned ice bag. As long as I have it on the affected area, it doesn't hurt much. Now if I could only figure out a way to attach it to my head... Also, I am eating as healthily as possible, and trying to get exercise (although that's really hard, exercise seems to make the headache much worse. On the other hand, I have a theory that stimulating my metabolism will hopefully work this stuff out of my system sooner). The only thing that seems to really help is lying down with the ice bag on my forehead. One can't attend to responsibilities that way, though, and somethings just need to be attended to.
I really appreciate the suggestions, and even more important, the validation.
What a relief (sort of, anyway) to find this conversation. I had botox injections in late March, left side of my forehead only, to treat migraine headaches. Since the injections, I've had daily headaches that have effectively disabled me. Medication dulls them somewhat, but nothing makes them go away. I can't WAIT for the Botox to wear off, and will never do it again. My sagging left eye was bad enough...but the pain is really getting to me. I don't see anyone saying that anything helps...just time. It's been over 5 weeks now. At least now I can see that it really IS the botox that did it.
