ebaab61, Hi, I guess my post from two years ago was construed that in a negative way as far as my husband's reaction so I feel the need to explain. I was in a pretty bad place when I posted my comment and probably projected more dissatisfaction on his part than there was. My husband never judged me or told me I looked bad, it's just that he thought I was perfectly beautiful before the surgery and was upset that I now had scars and other issues I didn't have before. I could tell he was unhappy that I put myself through all that, and he did say he wished he had discouraged me from going through with it. That being said, he was really kind and supportive, Even though I am very critical of my looks he still thinks I am beautiful now. I realize you are in my corner with your comment, but just didn't want such a sweet wonderful guy to get a bad rap. Martayela, it's tough for them to see us go through all of of that trauma, and changing our faces seems to have a psychological reaction in some of the husbands. They get used to it with the passing of time, just like we do. Sweet Pbelli, your posts are always so empathetic and uplifting. I am wishing you total recovery from your pain issues. Silverlegend, what a great post! You are absolutely right about our image of ourselves and what people really see. You are already happy with your results and it is only going to get better with each week. Good for you!! All the best to everyone.

Hi Fixmyface, Please no, not pathetic at all. We all felt like that for various reasons, otherwise we wouldn't have ventured into this unkown territory. We decided to look as young on the outside as we felt inside and there is nothing wrong with that. I also thought that the surgery would be it, and my surgeon kind of discouraged getting filler before a face lift so I thought "great, I'll make this one big investment and be done with it for awhile." We can't be blamed for not anticipating the upkeep and tweaking we need, as well as the length of time it takes to get our old selves back. I'm just grateful we have each other and all of the others on the board for advice and support. It seems to have taken forever, but I think I am looking much better lately, even in my "walking dead" mirror LOL!!. My wish for everyone is that very soon your good days will out number your bad ones, until only the good ones remain.

Hi Pbelli! It's so good to hear from you again too. You have been such a support to all of us. I hope the spring weather brings more healing to everyone.

Fixmyface, sorry I didn't see your post sooner. The posts seem to go all over the place even though they are supposed to be most recent ones on top! Thanks for the tip on collagen enhancement chews. I had bought collagen capsules way before my surgery and never took them regularly. I couldn't get them down, they were like horse pills LOL. Lack of facial fat is the root of many of my post op problems but I have to admit that my face is ever so slowly filling out a bit. I'm learning to be happy with the way it is and thankful it isn't worse.

I get compliments and told I look young, but it took many months get used to my face. I miss my full cheeks and the softness I had before. I can tell my symmetry has changed but no one else seems to notice. My eyes are higher and just look different to me and there are dark hollows where my skin is now much closer to the bone. So although I thank God I don't have any real damage or pain and look pretty good, I wish I had tried less invasive and permanent methods. The massaging was a great help and I still do it religiously. I still needed filIer in the marionette lines and the ridge near my jaw which appeared after the surgery. I also have IPL treatments to stimulate collagen and get rid of the dark areas left over from the bruising. I use Skin Ceuticals serums and also Kate Sommerville daily dark spot remover which exfolliates and has made a big difference in my skin tone. I must have spent a small fortune on procedures and skin care and cosmetics after the procedure, which also cost a small fortune! Because my surgery was over two years ago, there is no way of knowing if my face would have fallen so much I would be really unhappy now, so perhaps all the angst and discomfort and expense will have been worth it in the end. If you are pleased with your results so soon after the surgery, I am confident that you will be even more pleased with each passing month. I wish you and all the other ladies on the forum speedy recoveries and happiness with the results. Springup
