How long did the procedure take? This will give you a good indication. I hear that to get all of it takes time.

Thank you. I love hearing comments that steer me away from the procedure. Yes, my legs are beefy and strong. My upper thighs (fat pockets) rub and wear out my compression shorts. Can't wear regular racing shorts because they will rub and chafe (ouch!). Proud to say my last race two weeks ago was a personal best. 2:00:37 for the half marathon (13.1 miles). Age divison 40-44 female. Came in 23 out of 65. I am getting stronger and ran 24 miles yesterday (painful) for my long run (training for P.F. Chang Marathon and 200 mile Del Sol Ragnar Relay). To be honest if I lose 10lbs. I will be at my ideal racing weight and feel more comfortable in my skin and easer on my joints. So, when the adds for these procedure say best for the unwanted fat that will not respond to diet and excercise. Are we being honest with ourselfs and doing the right eating habits? I know I can improve better with my eating habits and lose 10lbs. Here is my experiment. I have a picture of my 144lb. body. Lets, see what I will look at 130lbs. in time. Iam not sure how to post the photo so I will update.

Your results look beautiful! After seeing lots of reviews with photo's your bruising and swelling doesn't look bad. I am very pleased with your results. It is surgery and it will take 3-6 months to heal fully. Hang in there you had a great doc! I would like to here about your progress and when you will be returning back to your athletic abilities. I am interested in knowing if it effects endurance, running etc... I am a runner and run road races and been kept away from the procdure because I can't take the risk for sake of my love for running and racing. I wish I had your beautiful legs.

http://www.abms.org/ Please call 1-866-275-2267 to see if your surgeon is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Give them the name of your surgeon and they will tell you if and when he or she was certified. Certification by other boards does not give you the same protection. Other boards have less strict criteria for certification and some require only a fee. Doctor's can buy the machines and take a eight hour one time course and perform this procedures! Be careful who you go too. You may also want to call the local hospital and ask the Medical Staff Office secretary whether your surgeon has privileges to perform the proposed procedures in the hospital. At the present time there are few local, state or federal laws requiring office-based operation rooms to be certified. Any physician may perform any procedure in an office as long as basic fire and safety codes are met. Unfortunately, tragic consequences have occurred because of faulty equipment, lack of trained personnel and inadequate emergency equipment. As a result, there will most likely be requirements imposed in th futrue, but for now certification is purely voluntary. The anesthesia options. When you are heavily sedated or have general anesthesia, you put your life in someone else's hands. Much of that responsibility falls to the person administering the medications and monitoring your vital signs. You need to know the qualifications of the person assuming that responsibility. Their training can range from specialization after earning a medical degree (anesthesiologists) to specialization after nursing training (nurse anesthetists) to nursing training only. If using general anesthesia chose to use board-certified anesthesiologists for monitored anesthesia care. I have been meaning to post my heavy reseach on this botched office procedures to consumers. Please visit www.gawleyplasticsurgery.com and watch the video. Three patients have died from a botched clinic in Arizona. Please do your research before jumping into something that sounds like a quick fix to problematic areas of your body. Please use surgery has your last resort. Underlining tissue in the dermis will be damaged. It states in most pre-op warnings (the ones the doctor will give you) that Smartlipo, Vaser and lipo only damage minimal underlining tissue. Minimal? I hope this information educates your needs. GudyNuf

Thank you so much for sharing. I am so sorry you went through such a horrible experinece. Like yourself I am 43 and been running and racing for 20+ years. I eat well...but do like the cookies and cake once in awhile. I used to weight 180lbs at 5'4 and come from a family who does carry lots of weight. That's why 20+ years ago I started to run. I even run funny and didn't care what people said because it felt good. However, I never lost the fat pockets between the thighs (they rub and shaff), love handles and hips. That's why I saw the add in my new gynologist office about Smart Lipo and considered it (Yes, my new GYN does Smart Lipo). Maybe I can become a faster runner if I loss more weight through the procedure? I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart because you just saved that ONE. I wish you all the luck and inner peace. You have touched me and I feel the pain in my chest for you. I will read the book. Thanks, GudyNuf
