Mentor Silicone Implants Are Awesome!!!

I have to say it is nice to read such a respectful variety of viewpoints and experiences. I will keep the helpful comments in my mind of what to look for if I start to have side effects.

I originally posted on this blog in July 2007. I got the Mentor "gummy bear" implants in May 2007. I am one of the participants of Mentor's study. I know the first thing that will be questioned is did I get a "deal" in exchange for saying good things about them? NO, not at all. The only benefit of being part of the survey is you get their "replacement" insurance free if/when you run into DEFECTS in the product. I just had my one year check up with my surgeon, and so far, so good. My heart goes out to everyone who has experienced problems with their implants. I have had a positive experience so far, and hope it stays that way. From my experience, I still recommend these implants. The only side effects I have had so far is a change in nipple sensation. For about the first three months, they were sore. The next eight or so, they were almost numb. Now, I am starting to get sensation back. I think this is typical of any surgery, as I have a scar on my stomach and my shoulder, and both of those areas are a mixture of numbness and sensitivity several years later.

Thank you for your response. I called Nu U last week, and my appointment is for Monday at Arrowhead. I am more confident in my decision now, thanks to your positive comments. I was only planning to consult with them on the laser hair removal, but now I will check into lipodissolve also.

I had Mentor Moderate Plus silicone implants put in about 11 weeks ago. I had the nipple incision, above the muscle. Practically no pain at all, but my nipples have been 'tender' since the surgery. Maybe I'm actually geting sensation back because after breast feeding three babies, I didn't have much left! I didn't have any pain from having the implants put in otherwise, but maybe that's because my breasts were already stretched out from breastfeeding - that's just a guess though. I got 450cc. I was afraid they would be big and heavy if I went any bigger. My only advice is they seem smaller once they are put in, and are not the least bit heavy, so get them as big as you want to. If I had it to do over again, I would have gotten 600cc. Sounds big, but my friend just got the 600cc's two weeks ago and she looks awesome. Another plus - I cannot tell at all that I have implants. They feel exactly like the real thing. Good luck, and I hope I eased your mind a little.
