This was actually in 2010...I was very traumatized by this and it left white spots in my melasma. The only good thing she did was prescribe Biafine. It saved my face.
I went back several times and she was mortified. She really did all that she could. I got lots of free samples of the Biafine and weekly check ups, had her home number, free mineral make up. Finally, the doctor that owned the facility told her to cut me off. He never even spoke to me even though he was the one that 'talked' me into the procedure. This emulsion saved my face; that and the CosmelanMD. It has been 2 years now?
I began CosmelanMD peels with another Dr. (the one that told me NOT to use lasers on my brown skin and I ignored him). I started the peels and I did notice texture issues. I am not a fan of RetinA as it gives me alligator skin. I am happy with these peels and my skin is evened out in texture and pigment.
I have had two treatments on my upper abdomen. The second treatment was 2 weeks ago. I find the initial attachment hurts and then numbs due to the cold. It is uncomfortable when they remove the suction and it looks like a piece of salmon.
the last two days have been sharp pains in the area. I remember this from the first time. It will go away, and I did not find it debilitating (much better than smartlipo!!-not recommended ever). Anyway, I know it is worth it. There was a definitive improvement the first time, but I wanted more. The upper 'shelf' of my abdomen is stubborn.
I am a prime candidate for a full tummy-tuck, but due to money and lack of recovery time available to me, I am taking these short cuts. I think it is worth it and I muscle through the discomfort and drink lots of water. I find stretching helps. Remember, it is the fat cells dying off.
I have consulted with him also. I get the same impression. He is a breath of fresh air. This was not his first career in the medical field, maybe that is why. I will do a test spot for melasma and see how it goes.....
Thank you. I have consulted 2 doctors since. IPL should never have been used on my mixed race skin (now I know). I get the same answer of 'time will heal all' and 'try the frazel re:store'. I am sick of putting acids on my face and now I have to wear a ton of make up, which I never did before.
I am excited to read your post. This Dr. that I consulted asked me a question, no other Dr. has asked in all of the 20 years that I have been going for the free consultation (never committing). He asked, "do you want to wear a bikini or look good in clothes?" Genius question. I have had a horrible experience with a medical device but my comfort and vanity keep me hoping. I want to do the half measures though, I just can't do the full surgery.
