One of the best things to do to prevent and shorten bruising time is to use the Arnicare kit from Boron. We have our patients begin taking 5 little pellets, 3 times a day, one week in advance of surgery. The day of surgery we have them double up on the Arnica as well as the day after. This little herb does wonders. It works using it after surgery as well. If you stay away from incisions the gel or cream version works topically to move the bruising along faster. This works well after about 10 days to 2 weeks after surgery. Using a cover up makeup, the opposite side of the color wheel, helps hide bruises. So, if the bruise is still purple, an orange based makeup will hide the bruise pretty well. Then apply your regular coverup on top of it. A lot of blending will be necessary to make the area look natural. All-in-all, the bruises will eventually go away.
2 1/2 weeks is too soon to evaluate the outcome of your surgery. All of the "bumpy" areas and tender spots will indeed settle down over time. Between 6 months and a year everything should resolve itself. The tenderness should be pretty much gone and the bumpy areas smoothed out. Healing is usually complete by 1 year.
