  • Posted to How much help is needed for recovery? on 15 Mar 2011

I would schedule someone for the second week so you can continue to focus on recovery. My husband was home the first week, but then decided to take the second week of last minute to keep me from "doing too much". I've been there, and done that. Definetely have someone for the second week!!

By the way, keep in mind I'm 10 weeks post op and my kids can get on my lap, but have to be very careful with movement and applying pressure to the stomach area. It's still kind of numb and sensitive.

San Francisco, I decided to read your post after you've commented on mine. I understand how you feel, and I definetely would like to talk to you more about what to expect with interaction with your son after the surgery. That was one issue I under estimated on....

I got the clots 3 1/2 weeks afterwards. I was up and walking a lot and actually went back to work on day 13 after my surgery. I have ruled out not enough physical activity... :). There was really no suggestions on what I could have done, it was just something that happened. I'm going on 10 weeks post op but still have my bad days. I definately don't have my normal level of energy back yet. I get upset with myself for not being able to be really in the swing of things yet. Please account for all of this in your recovery period b/c you don't want to push anything. I've just had a rough road with this surgery... :) I hope you don't experience anything I did on May 31st. I hope we can keep in touch, b/c now I'll be thinking of you on that day! If you ever want anymore advice, feel free to email me anytime. I'm glad to help others now since I've gone though this. Take care! PS- hopefully I'll be posting some more post op pics soon!

I am fine now. Thanks for asking... it's just been a rougher recovery than what I expected. Going on 10 weeks post op, and gradually getting there. I would just regret thinking I would never be in the small percentage of those who experience complications. I just thought it would never happen to me, but I was wrong!
