I would totaly get a second opinion. I work in a dental office and am going through invisalign and I don't think I hav ever heard someone having to have surgery just because of their age I have seen ortho go on people in their 50's with no surgery so its not an age thing. If your case is severe enough that they have to lengthen or sorten the jaw bone that would be understandable or if you have an openbite but I would get a second opinion before you continue with treatment.
